Allah, the Almighty, the Creator and Lord of human beings calls believers to piety and unity in several verses of the Holy Quran. Fraternity and unity among believers is not only a great blessing of Allah, the Almighty, but it is a mean of salvation of the Muslim Ummah. Unity contains success of this World and the Hereafter.

''Hold fast all together to the bond of Allah and let nothing divide you.'' (Surah 3, Verse 103)

Internal disputes eliminate power of believers and deprive them of the blessings of Allah, the Almighty. If we have a glance at the pages of Islamic history, we will find that great problems have surfaced because of internal differences. Therefore, most of Shariah books put emphasis on patience, tolerance, forgiveness, internal reform and keeping oneself away from divisions and intrigues.

''And do not dispute with one another, lest you should lose courage and your resolve weakens. Have patience: Allah is with those that are patient.'' (Surah 8, Verse 46)

If we consider the battle of Ohud as an example and look into the causes of disputes, we will conclude that it is must that first of all we should put an end to internal disputes. At Ohud Battle, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered Abdullah bin Jubair (may Allah, the Almighty be pleased with him) including fifty Mujahideen under his command to take their positions in Rama Mountain. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized not to leave their positions in any circumstances. When most of the friends of Abdullah bin Jabir left their positions because of disputes, the enemy availed an opportunity and suddenly attacked from behind. As a result, the situation of battle changed in favor of the enemy.

Because of this little dispute, the believers faced great losses. The tooth of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) broke off and his face was wounded. Seventy companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) were martyred including Hamza (May Allah, the Almighty be pleased with him), the Lion of Allah, the Almighty and of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). The city of Madina was weeping, the dignity and fame of Muslims was damaged and the enemies of Allah, the Almighty were pleased because of this incident.

The best way to eliminate disputes is to give up ones own rights for the sake of Allah, the Almighty and for the unity of Muslims. The abdication of Hazrat Hassan bin Ali (may Allah, the Almighty be pleased with him) from the post of Khilafa saved life, wealth and honor of thousands of Muslims. It proved the prophecy of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) as a reality that:

(إِنَّ ابْنِي هَذَا سَيِّدٌ وَلَعَلَّ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُصْلِحَ بِهِ بَيْنَ فِئَتَيْنِ عَظِيمَتَيْنِ مِنَ المُسْلِمِينَ). رواه البخاري.

''This son of mine is a Sayyid (chief), and I hope Allah may reconcile two parties of my community by means of him.''

This Hadith indicates that true leaders are those who give sacrifice for the unity of their group and internal reform.

When someone feels innocence and thinks that his rights are wasted or his opinion is not considered regarding important issues, in such situation, patience and tolerance for the sake of the unity of Muslim Ummah lift believers to deserve the cistern of Kauther. The holy Prophet (peace be upon him) says:

إنكم ستلقون بعدي أثرة فاصبروا حتى تلقوني على الحوض. متفق عليه

''You will encounter selfishness after I am gone, so be patient until you meet me at the cistern (Al-Hawd).''

The meeting of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) at the cistern of Kauther is better than this world and its luxuries.

Disagreement is a natural phenomenon. Therefore, the Holy Quran and Hadith have paid deep attention to the issue of disputes among Muslim and shown the way out. Submission to Islamic Shariah is the only way to effectively eradicate the virus of differences because every side considers submission to the commandments of Allah, the Almighty as a success of this world and the Hereafter.

''Should you disagree about anything refer it to Allah and the Apostle.'' (Surah 4, Verse 59)

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) used to immediately resolve internal disputes. Resolving the issue at its initial stage, he intervened himself and tried to resolve disputes. There is a great lesson for the leaders of Muslim Ummah in this act of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) that for the sake of peace and reform they should take initiative in their own hands so that the unity of Muslim is maintained.

This is the reason that the new esteemed leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor (May Allah, the Almighty protect him) has advised his nation in his first speech regarding submission to Shariah, unity in frontlines, unity and harmony and ending of differences. In his speech he has drawn attention of his friends to the danger of dissection and division.
