On Tuesday (10/08) after seeing his father at Mabes Polri (police headquarters) the second son of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir i.e. Ustadz Rosyid Ridho Ba’asyir was interviewed by us regarding the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.

With a gentle speech, this leader of the Ponpes (Madrassa or traditional Islamic boarding school - ed) Darul Wahyain Magetan said that the condition of his father is fine right now.

“Alhamdulillah he is well, it’s just that there's an innate illness that he had long been diagnosed with i.e. gastric acid and kidney symptoms.”

Ustadz Rosyid also expressed the feelings of the family with the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.

“Of course everyone's sad when the parents are arrested. Sad on two basis, firstly because of the separation. Secondly, it’s because of the way the arrest was made which was not procedural” he said.

When asked about whether there is a sign of any engineered fabrication behind the arrest of his father, he answered that it is possible, because the way it (the arrest) was done was very far from what we know from the statutory law in Indonesia.

“It was as though they are looking for faces from a certain party, but wallahu a’lam, who it is,” he said.

Indeed in many instances, Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir had said that he himself is ready to come to the Mabes Polri if summoned. On the other side, Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir is also not in the DPO (list of wanted persons) in whatever case.

In the end of the interview, Ustadz Rosyid Ridho Ba’asyir presented an appeal to all Muslims generally and the members of Jama’ah Ansharut Tauhid specifically.

“I urge the Muslims in general so that they to know and be aware that what has been aimed at Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir as my parent, who is the Amir of Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid is essentially a collective disaster. Because the arrest of him would then bear in bigger things for the Muslims because he is an icon of Islam. Any matters relating to him should first be considered collectively.

Next, to the Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid, this (arrest) is also a great disaster for them. We hope they can accept this well, but they also have to make serious efforts so that these oppressions against Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir do not just go away. So anything that could be proceeded in this case, in a Shar’i way, that's what’s important for us to do. Next, the efforts through the legal means of Indonesia, if it does not contradict in the Shar’i way and that it can be taken up, then we would take it up as much as possible!”

Thus, he appeals to the Muslims. And for anyone who heard his appeal, it should be that they respond to it by doing his main appeal i.e. to take up "Shar’i measures" in responding to the arrest of Abu Bakar Ba’asyir. 

Meanwhile, the youngest son of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir, Abdul Rochim Ba'asyir who is more intimately known as Ustadz Iim said that he did not believe in the allegations aimed at Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.

“We do not believe in any alleged charges before it is proven! Because, we already have the experiences, if before my father had been accused of all sorts of things and in the end those allegations could not be proven. Previously, Amrozi was tortured and forced to involve Ustadz Abu so that he is connected to the case of Bali Bombing I and others. This proves that there is a conspiracy and play. I am afraid this time the same thing happen. Because from the information that is circulating, there is someone who is involved in the training in Aceh, whom it was said came from within the police himself,” this 31 years old man asserted.

Yes, the strugglers of tawheed across the ages like Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir are the figures who are continually targeted and whose mistakes are looked for by the enemies of Islam especially by America and its allies. Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir who had been arrested before when president SBY became the Menkopolkam (minister of legal political and security co-ordinator - ed) during the reign of Megawati, had been asked by the government of America through its ambassador in Indonesia for the extradition. Today, in the lapse of a few days after President SBY vented about his fear of being terrorist a target, Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir is arrested again. It is only natural that many people question if there is any foreign element who played behind the arrest of Ustadz people question if there is any foreign element who played behind the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir? Because in 2003 when he served as the Menkopolkam, during his visit to Anerica he openly said; “ I love the United State, with all its faults. I consider it my second country.” Naudzubillahimindzalik!
