to students at a
Murrieta high school. About a dozen members of Concerned Citizens for the
First
Amendment perched themselves on the sidewalk
outside Murrieta Valley High School Tuesday, handing
out fliers to students walking by. A person unaffiliated with the group stood across
the street from the high school, holding yellow signs
that read, "Islam = Hate," and, "Say No 2 Islam." The letter handed out was the same one the group
gave to students outside

Murrieta Valley Unified School District learn
about the history of Islam as part of
Social Studies. The letter accuses teachers of
lying about Islam. "Did you know you were subjected to some really
serious brainwashing when you were in the seventh
grade, and that it is continuing even today?" the
flier stated. "That means you have been fed a bunch of
lies. Lies can mess up your life forever. Do you like
being lied to?" The group could not be reached for comment by
publication time. The event did attract media such as
ABC 7. The group also informed school district officials
the day before that they planned to hand out the
fliers, said Karen Parris, spokeswoman for the
Murrieta Valley Unified School District. The district sent a phone message home to parents,
telling them about the outreach. "Under the first amendment, the group has the right
to express their views on Islam and the building of
mosques in the United States. Our students have the
right to refuse the fliers or to accept the fliers, to
engage in conversation, or to continue walking," the
message stated. "School staff and
Murrieta police will be on hand to ensure that
this is a peaceable exercise, as promised by the
Concerned Citizens for the First Amendment." School officials also advised the students and gave
them the choice of taking an alternative route to
leave the school, the message stated. Many students crumpled up the fliers and
threw them on the ground, according to a parent who
was present. "It really was a non-event," Parris said. Yesterday, Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association wrote in his blog that since "tyranny is in the DNA of Islam," the only way for democracy to emerge in a Muslim country is for the U.S. to bring about "a mass conversion of its people to biblical Christianity." On his radio show Focal Point, Fischer reiterated his belief that the U.S. "should be sending missionaries in right after we send in the Marines," warning that if Muslims refuse to convert: "This time it's Marines and missionaries, next time it'll be Marines and missiles." The only thing that will give us a shot at building a democracy in an Islamic land is a mass conversion of its people to biblical Christianity. So that means if we want to see freedom come to those darkened, benighted lands, we should be sending missionaries in right after we send in the Marines to neutralize whatever threat has been raised against the United States. So we say to them, look, if you don't want our missionaries, fine, that's your choice, we'll take our missionaries and our Marines, we'll take them home, but we're gonna let you know we have no hesitation about returning with lethal force if the forces in your country threaten us again. This time it's Marines and missionaries, next time it'll be Marines and missiles. The lesson was that when we destroyed the false gods of the Japanese Imperial fascists, and when we destroyed the false gods of the Germans and discredited their ideology, then and only then were millions of Japanese and millions of Germans capable of adopting a new world view. As a result, they are today, our allies and friends,(for the most part, we are not talking Utopia here)whereas before they were committed to our destruction.
It is quite a fetish for anti-Muslims to dream of destroying Mecca, Medina and the Dome of the Rock. We've had looniest blogger Pamela Geller, Krazy Joe Kaufman, Michael "Weiner" Savage, someone named Bob Beers, Tom Trancredo, etc call for nuking or destroying Muslim countries and holy sites in the past. Robert Spencer himself says he is opposed to nuking Mecca, not out of any sort of principled stand (this is the guy who supports the Genocide of Turks after all) but because it wouldn't be a good ‘tactical move' –which makes you wonder if he is really against the idea? The Nuclear Card option forwarded by the Spencerite is the wet-dream of all wacko Islamophobes, and is probably the reason that Robert Spencer didn't moderate it and similar comments. |
