The Crucial Responsibility Of The Nation Towards The Chaste Afghan Women

Women are held in very high regard in the Afghan society and family life. Not only are they compassionate mothers, beloved sisters, free-willed wives, treasured daughters but are also considered the tribes honor and the nations dignity because it is these women who breastfeed their children by reciting ‘Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) and teach them about protecting their religion, honor and country in the cradle. It is women who expound Jihad, zeal and sacrifice for the defense of Islam and it is women who indoctrinate young men with creed and present them for service to their religion, nation and country.

The honorable status of women in Afghan society in reality gets its origins from Islam. In the time of ignorance, women didn't even have the right to live; they were buried alive or were distributed and treated as property. When the divine religion of Islam first dawned, it foremost gave women the right to live, then rights in heritage, ownership, trade, marriage of choice, education, teaching, Jihad in the path of Allah, judiciary, issuing fatwas, giving advise, worship, giving infidels security and all the other rights of life. The Prophet (SAW) said:

( من كانت له بنت فأدبها فأحسن أدبها، وعلمها فأحسن تعليمها، وأسبغ عليها من نعم الله التي أسبغ عليه كانت له سترا أو حجابا من النار. (رواه أبو نعیم الأصبهاني)

Those who have a girl, discipline her with the best discipline; educate her with the best of education and cover her with the blessings with which Allah has blessed him then she shall become a shield between him and fire, meaning he shall be protected from the fire of hell due to his daughter.

And for those who oppress women, they have been addressed with the harshest of terms in Islamic Sharia for example the saying of Allah:

 {وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ}

When the female infant buried alive would be asked "For what sin was she murdered"? meaning that questions shall definitely be asked on the day of reckoning.

Islam has also brought with itself some rulings for women which protect their chastity and dignity for example the hijab therefore it is stated at the end of the verse regarding covering:

{ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلاَ يُؤْذَيْنَ} (الأحزاب-59)

That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. Hijab is reality is a fortress of a woman which protects them from immodest, unreligious and harmful people.

In this dark period of American occupation and in complete disagreement of our Islamic and national customs and culture, women are intentionally being pushed towards ignorance; are having to face inhumane conditions under the name of democracy; are being oppressed by unconstrained militias who work under the shadow of the invaders; are being kidnapped; are made to cry day and night due to barbarism and cruelty; they burn themselves up to a stage where their screams are heard throughout the world and even tough it is being maliciously used by the media, still no one bothers asking about them. Surely to Allah we belong and to him is the return.

Therefore it is an obligation upon the Mujahideen and the entire nation to protect the rights of women in these sensitive times; regard it as their duty; forward sacrifices in its defense; all means should be utilized in attaining their due Islamic rights; they should not be left alone to the cruelty and abuse of oppressors and they should protect this national honor with full determination and unshakable will.
