Obama vs Putin: Whose Missiles Are Bigger - Europe Must Prepare Itself

Obama, in an interview with MSNBC, said that Iran would not be able to
protect its nuclear facilities from attacks using missile systems S-300 of
Russian production, their presence is not an obstacle to America.
Last week, Russian Defence Ministry said that the contract would be prepared
within a month and all S-300s would be delivered to Iran by the end of the
year.
"Our military budget is slightly less than 600 billion dollars. Them little
more than 17 billion dollars. Even if they get a little anti-aircraft missile
systems, if we need we can get around them", belives Obama.
On April 13, Putin signed a decree authorizing the delivery to Iran of
S-300s. The decision to suspend the execution of this contract, which had
already been signed and entered into force, Putin accepted voluntarily in
September 2010 in support of the consolidated efforts of the international
six (five permanent members of the UN SC group and Germany) on negotiations
on the Iranian nuclear program.
On April 2 in Lausanne, Switzerland the six ended the round of talks with
Iran and stated a considerable progress, so Putin decided that at this stage
the need for this kind of embargo had completely disappeared.
It is to be recalled that, according to some experts, the presence in Iran of
old Soviet system S-300s can protect against possible air strikes. Thus,
analysts predict, Putin is trying to provoke a major war in the Middle East,
which would help Russia in its aggressive plans towards dominance over
Europe.
Europe must prepare itself for nuclear war with Russia
This was said at a meeting organized by the largest political group in the
European Parliament - the European People's Party - by the leaders of the
party.
News portal Euractiv mentioned in an article, entitled EU should tell Russia
that it is ready to go to war, provided details of the last meeting of the
European People's Party (EPP), the largest faction in the European
Parliament.
According to Euractiv, deputies said that Russia had become the EU's
adversary and that its next target would be the Baltic states, Transnistria,
and warned of "of putting to the test the West's credibility".
"Time of talk and persuasion [vis-à-vis Russia] is over. Now it's time for
tough policy, realistic policy, and concentration on defence and security,
because the eastern flank of the EU feels vitally, existentially threatened",
said the MEP, Vice-President of the EPP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski.
According to Romanian MEP Cristian Dan Preda, a majority of Romanians believe
Putin will not stop and will try to capture Transnistria.
MEP Roland Freudenstein, Deputy Director and Head of Research of the Martens
Centre, the EPP think tank, regretted that so far Europe's readiness for war
was not discussed publicly.
"That needs to change […] We have to make clear that yes, we are willing to
go to war, for what we consider existential principles of Europe's future",
he said.
"In Germany at the moment, nuclear deterrence by NATO consists of 20 rusting
free-fall bombs, of the B-61 type, that can be wiped out with one strike of
the Russian forces. These are things where we have to change, we have to
shape up", Freudenstein said.
According to him, Western leaders should tell the Russians "Yes we hear you,
we understand what you are saying, we just believe it's completely wrong".
EPP is the largest political group in the European Parliament, the party
nominated Jean-Claude Juncker for President of the European Commission. EPP
has the support of some of the important European leaders, notably German
Chancellor Angela Merkel.
