Iran: Mullah Khatami, In Fear Of The Continuation Of The Uprising

Following the ongoing protests by the public and the youth on February 1 on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the rule of religious fascism in Iran, Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the regime, dispatched Mullah Ahmad Khatami, member of the board of the regime's Assembly of Experts to Tehran Friday prayer to intimidate the rising people and protesters.

Khatami, scared of the hatred of the people from the regime and its leaders, called the dictator 'the just ruler of Islam' and stated: 'I said once in the sedition of 2009 and I am saying it again now that in our jurisprudence, the one who comes to the streets against the just ruler of Islam, sets fire and kills people, he is an insurgent against Islam and in our jurisprudence his sentence is death. We must confront the rioters, be the students, or clerics or else …You must be angry with the leaders of the rioters and deal with them categorically' (Fars, IRGC News Agency - February 2)

It is clear to everyone that the main focus of the protesters was to say 'no' to entirety of the regime, and the main motto was 'Death to Khamenei'. By referring to this main point, Khatami said: 'they said we have to damage the head of the system, meaning the supreme leader, and we should take the protests to this path...'

Khatami, as the representative of the Supreme leader, was expressing his fear on the Friday prayer and this is while the day before that regime was supposed to start a show of power ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of Khomeini's arrival to Iran, and the security forces were in full alert. However in a number of cities, the youths took to the streets and chanted death to the dictator. These protests under such circumstances proved that the intimidations and repressive threats are not able to prevent the people from protesting.

'Whistle in the Dark,' is an expression in Persian about someone who is terrified. Khatami's threats, as the 'Whistle in the Dark' is only a sign of deep fear of the Supreme leader from the current condition of the country. Because if there is no fear and as the regime claims the situation is under control, then why do they need these threats of execution? Especially that the regime is well aware of the international and internal consequences of these threats.

A few hours after Khatami's speech, the youth in Tehran took to the streets and chanted death to dictator, indicating that the threats by Khatami, and other representatives of Khamenei worth nothing and their decisiveness is much more than people like Khatami and Khamenei's henchman in the judiciary system.

Khatami's statement also showed that there is a split within the regime about the ways to deal with the protesters. Some who are more aware of the social and international conditions warn that the use of violence and execution from hand is similar to pouring gas on the fire and it would just increase the anger and hatred of the people and intensify the uprising and, on the other hand, it will put more pressure on the regime internationally. Especially in a time that less than 100 days is left from the United States deadline for the JCOPA. The other faction, frightened and frustrated, sees the suppression as the only way out of this condition, and they are trying to cover up their fears with threats and a gesture of determination against the 'rioters.'

In his second part of his speech, Ahmad Khatami, face to face against the international community to halt the regime's ominous missile programs, ridiculously attributed missile activities to the Qur'an and said: 'On the orders of the Qur'an in the field of deterrence, we will make missiles as many as we want and we will increase its range as much as we want, and we do not negotiate this with anyone and do not allow any government to interfere. The French foreign minister and others will have to remove the earbuds from their ears, and if they want to negotiate this issue, we will answer them in advance.'

While the regime's warmongering machine and export of terrorism falters every day, Khatami emphasized on the continuation of the export of terrorism and the support for terrorist groups, and said: 'Iran has not and will not give up this support. We regard Hezbollah as a noble organization and a defender of the homeland. '

The time has long passed for Khamenei and Khatami's scary cries, and the people and risen young people are determined to overthrow the religious fascism ruling Iran. The regime of Velayat-e faqih will be buried with all its bands forever and the people of Iran, region and the world will get rid of it.
