Next »

This Surah (Revealed) Meccan or Medinese, consisting of 4 or 5 verses. The Prophet (s) was asked about his Lord and the following was revealed:(Al-Ikhlâs)

Ayah  112:1  الأية
بِسْم ِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Ayah First  1  الأية
Tafseer

Say: âHe is God, One (Allāhu is the predicate of huwa, âHe isâ, and ahadun is its substitution or a second 767 predicate).

Ayah  112:2  الأية

Tafseer

God, the Self-Sufficient, Besought of all (Allāhuâl-samad constitute a subject and a predicate) [al-samad means] the One Who is always sought at times of need,

Ayah  112:3  الأية

Tafseer

He neither begot, for no likeness of Him can exist, nor was begotten, since createdness is precluded in His case.

Ayah  112:4  الأية

Tafseer

Nor is there anyone equal to Himâ, neither match nor comparison (lahu, âto Himâ, is semantically connected to kufuwan, âequalâ, but precedes it because it is the object of the intended negation; ahadun, âanyoneâ, which is the subject of yakun, âis thereâ, has been placed after the predicate of the latter [kufuwan, âequalâ] in order to retain the harmony of the end-rhyme [of the verses]).
