First Ayah 1 الأية الأوليبِسْم ِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Sahih International
Ha, Meem.
Muhsin Khan
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah
(Alone) knows their meanings].

Ha Mim!
Dr. Ghali
Ha, Mim (These are the names of letters of the Arabic alphabet, and only Allah
knows their meaning here).

Ayah 44:2 الأية
وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
Sahih International
By the clear Book,
Muhsin Khan
By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear,
Pickthall
By the Scripture that maketh plain
Yusuf Ali
By the Book that makes things clear;-
Shakir
I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth).
Dr. Ghali
And (by) the evident Book.

Ayah 44:3 الأية
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn
[mankind].
Muhsin Khan
We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No:
97) in the month of Ramadan,, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We
are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in
Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].
Pickthall
Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning -
Yusuf Ali
We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against
Evil).
Shakir
Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning--
Dr. Ghali
Surely We have sent it down in a blessed night; surely We have been warning.

Ayah 44:4 الأية
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
Sahih International
On that night is made distinct every precise matter -
Muhsin Khan
Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.
Pickthall
Whereon every wise command is made clear
Yusuf Ali
In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,
Shakir
Therein every wise affair is made distinct,
Dr. Ghali
Therein every Wise Command is distinctly (decreed),

Ayah 44:5 الأية
أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
Sahih International
[Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger]
Muhsin Khan
Amran (i.e. a Command or this Quran or the Decree of every matter) from Us.
Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers),
Pickthall
As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending -
Yusuf Ali
By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations),
Shakir
A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of messengers),
Dr. Ghali
(As) a Command from Our providence; surely We have (ever) been sending
(Messengers).

Ayah 44:6 الأية
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Sahih International
As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Muhsin Khan
(As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
Pickthall
A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower,
Yusuf Ali
As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things);
Shakir
A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing,
Dr. Ghali
As a mercy from your Lord; surely He, Ever He, is The Ever-Hearing, The
Ever-Knowing.

Ayah 44:7 الأية
رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Sahih International
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be
certain.
Muhsin Khan
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but)
have a faith with certainty.
Pickthall
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be
sure.
Yusuf Ali
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an
assured faith.
Shakir
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be
sure.
Dr. Ghali
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them both, in case
you are (believers) with certitude.

Ayah 44:8 الأية
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ
الْأَوَّلِينَ
Sahih International
There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord
and the Lord of your first forefathers.
Muhsin Khan
La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who
gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers.
Pickthall
There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord
of your forefathers.
Yusuf Ali
There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and
Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.
Shakir
There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord
of your fathers of yore.
Dr. Ghali
There is no god except He; He gives life and He makes to die; (He is) your Lord
and The Lord of your earliest fathers.

Ayah 44:9 الأية
بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
Sahih International
But they are in doubt, amusing themselves.
Muhsin Khan
Nay! They play in doubt.
Pickthall
Nay, but they play in doubt.
Yusuf Ali
Yet they play about in doubt.
Shakir
Nay, they are in doubt, they sport.
Dr. Ghali
No indeed, (but) they are in doubt, playing.

Ayah 44:10 الأية
فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Sahih International
Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke.
Muhsin Khan
Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke.
Pickthall
But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke
Yusuf Ali
Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or
mist) plainly visible,
Shakir
Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke,
Dr. Ghali
So be on the watch for a Day when the heaven will come up with an evident smoke,

Ayah 44:11 الأية
يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Sahih International
Covering the people; this is a painful torment.
Muhsin Khan
Covering the people, this is a painful torment.
Pickthall
That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment.
Yusuf Ali
Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.
Shakir
That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment.
Dr. Ghali
That will envelop mankind; this is a painful torment.

Ayah 44:12 الأية
رَّبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
Sahih International
[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are
believers."
Muhsin Khan
(They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become
believers!"
Pickthall
(Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers.
Yusuf Ali
(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really
believe!"
Shakir
Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers.
Dr. Ghali
"Our Lord, lift off from us the torment; surely, we are believers."

Ayah 44:13 الأية
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
Sahih International
How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them
a clear Messenger.
Muhsin Khan
How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has
reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to
them.
Pickthall
How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth)
had already come unto them,
Yusuf Ali
How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger
explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,-
Shakir
How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Messenger making clear
(the truth),
Dr. Ghali
However could they have the Reminding, and an evident Messenger has already come
to them,

Ayah 44:14 الأية
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
Sahih International
Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman."
Muhsin Khan
Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One
(Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!"
Pickthall
And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman?
Yusuf Ali
Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"
Shakir
Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman.
Dr. Ghali
(Yet) thereafter they turned away from him and said, "A man taught (by others),
a madman!"

Ayah 44:15 الأية
إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ
Sahih International
Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will
return [to disbelief].
Muhsin Khan
Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert.
Pickthall
Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief).
Yusuf Ali
We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to
your ways).
Shakir
Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to
evil).
Dr. Ghali
Surely We are lifting off the torment a little; surely you will be going back
(to disbelief).

Ayah 44:16 الأية
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
Sahih International
The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take
retribution.
Muhsin Khan
On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will
exact retribution.
Pickthall
On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We
shall punish.
Yusuf Ali
One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact
Retribution!
Shakir
On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We
will inflict retribution.
Dr. Ghali
Upon the Day when We will assault you with the greatest assault; surely We will
be Avengers.

Ayah 44:17 الأية
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
Sahih International
And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to
them a noble messenger,
Muhsin Khan
And indeed We tried before them Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, when there came to
them a noble Messenger [i.e. Musa (Moses) ],
Pickthall
And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a
noble messenger,
Yusuf Ali
We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger
most honourable,
Shakir
And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a
noble messenger,
Dr. Ghali
And indeed already before them We tempted the people of Firaawn, (Pharaoh) and
an honorable Messenger came to them. (Saying), "Discharge (Literally: give back
to me) to me the bondmen of Allah; surely I am for you a trustworthy Messenger."

Ayah 44:18 الأية
أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Sahih International
[Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah . Indeed, I am to you a
trustworthy messenger,"
Muhsin Khan
Saying: "Restore to me the slaves of Allah (i.e. the Children of Israel).
Verily! I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust,
Pickthall
Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto
you.
Yusuf Ali
Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of
all trust;
Shakir
Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful messenger to
you,
Dr. Ghali
And, "Do not exalt yourselves against Allah; surely I am bringing you an
evident, all-binding authority;

Ayah 44:19 الأية
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Sahih International
And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah . Indeed, I have come to you with clear
authority.
Muhsin Khan
"And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a
manifest authority.
Pickthall
And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant.
Yusuf Ali
"And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority
manifest.
Shakir
And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a
clear authority:
Dr. Ghali
And surely I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord that you should (not) stone
me.
|
Ayah 44:20 الأية
وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
Sahih International
And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.
Muhsin Khan
"And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call
me a sorcerer or kill me).
Pickthall
And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death.
Yusuf Ali
"For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring
me.
Shakir
And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to
death:
Dr. Ghali
And in case you do not believe me, then keep apart from me!"

Ayah 44:21 الأية
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ
Sahih International
But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone."
Muhsin Khan
"But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone."
Pickthall
And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go.
Yusuf Ali
"If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."
Shakir
And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone.
Dr. Ghali
So he invoked his Lord, (saying)
|
Ayah 44:22 الأية
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
Sahih International
And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people.
Muhsin Khan
(But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying):
"These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists,
sinners, criminals, etc.)."
Pickthall
And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk.
Yusuf Ali
(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a
people given to sin."
Shakir
Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people.
Dr. Ghali
"These are a criminal people."

Ayah 44:23 الأية
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
Sahih International
[ Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be
pursued.
Muhsin Khan
(Allah said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued.
Pickthall
Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be
followed,
Yusuf Ali
(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be
pursued.
Shakir
So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued:
Dr. Ghali
"Then set forth with My bondmen by night, surely you will be closely followed.
|
Ayah 44:24 الأية
وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
Sahih International
And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned."
Muhsin Khan
"And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be
drowned."
Pickthall
And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host.
Yusuf Ali
"And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be
drowned."
Shakir
And leave the sea intervening; surely they are a host that shall be drowned.
Dr. Ghali
And leave the sea becalmed; (Or: furrowed) surely they are a drowned host."

Ayah 44:25 الأية
كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Sahih International
How much they left behind of gardens and springs
Muhsin Khan
How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left.
Pickthall
How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind,
Yusuf Ali
How many were the gardens and springs they left behind,
Shakir
How many of the gardens and fountains have they left!
Dr. Ghali
They left how many gardens and springs,
|
Ayah 44:26 الأية
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
Sahih International
And crops and noble sites
Muhsin Khan
And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places,
Pickthall
And the cornlands and the goodly sites
Yusuf Ali
And corn-fields and noble buildings,
Shakir
And cornfields and noble places!
Dr. Ghali
And plantations and how honorable a station,
|
Ayah 44:27 الأية
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ
Sahih International
And comfort wherein they were amused.
Muhsin Khan
And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight!
Pickthall
And pleasant things wherein they took delight!
Yusuf Ali
And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight!
Shakir
And goodly things wherein they rejoiced;
Dr. Ghali
And what comfort they used to (enjoy) cheerfully!
|
Ayah 44:28 الأية
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ
Sahih International
Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people.
Muhsin Khan
Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children
of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt).
Pickthall
Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk;
Yusuf Ali
Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)!
Shakir
Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people.
Dr. Ghali
Thus (it was); and We made another people to inherit (these favors).
|
Ayah 44:29 الأية
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ
Sahih International
And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.
Muhsin Khan
And the heavens and the earth wept not for them , nor were they given a respite.
Pickthall
And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.
Yusuf Ali
And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a
respite (again).
Shakir
So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited.
Dr. Ghali
So, in no way did the heaven and the earth weep for them, and in no way were
they respited.

Ayah 44:30 الأية
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ
Sahih International
And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment -

And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment,
Pickthall
And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom;
Yusuf Ali
We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,
Shakir
And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement,
Dr. Ghali
And indeed We already safely delivered the Seeds (Or: sons) of Israel) from
degrading torment.

Ayah 44:31 الأية
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ
Sahih International
From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors.
Muhsin Khan
From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those
who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins).
Pickthall
(We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones.
Yusuf Ali
Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.
Shakir
From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant.
Dr. Ghali
From Firaawn; (Pharaoh) surely he was exalted, of the extravagant.
|
Ayah 44:32 الأية
وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ
Sahih International
And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds.
Muhsin Khan
And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and
jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge,
Pickthall
And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures.
Yusuf Ali
And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,
Shakir
And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations.
Dr. Ghali
And indeed We already chose them, out of a knowledge, over the worlds;
|
Ayah 44:33 الأية
وَآتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاءٌ مُّبِينٌ
Sahih International
And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial.
Muhsin Khan
And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial.
Pickthall
And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial.
Yusuf Ali
And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial
Shakir
And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing.
Dr. Ghali
And We brought them (some) signs wherein there was an evident trial.

Ayah 44:34 الأية
إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
Sahih International
Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying,

Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying:

Lo! these, forsooth, are saying:
Yusuf Ali
As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:

Most surely these do say:
Dr. Ghali
Surely these (people) are indeed saying,

Ayah 44:35 الأية
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
Sahih International
"There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected.
Muhsin Khan
"There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected.
Pickthall
There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again.
Yusuf Ali
"There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.
Shakir
There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again.
Dr. Ghali
"Decidedly there is nothing except our first death; and in no way will we be
raised up.

Ayah 44:36 الأية
فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
Sahih International
Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful."
Muhsin Khan
"Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!"
Pickthall
Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth!
Yusuf Ali
"Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"
Shakir
So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful.
Dr. Ghali
Then come up with (i.e., bring) our fathers, in case you are sincere!"

Ayah 44:37 الأية
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۖ
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ
Sahih International
Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed
them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.
Muhsin Khan
Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them
because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners,
criminals, etc.).
Pickthall
Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them,
for surely they were guilty.
Yusuf Ali
What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them?
We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.
Shakir
Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them,
for surely they were guilty.
Dr. Ghali
Are they more charitable, (i.e., better) or the people of Tubbac and the ones
even before them? We caused them to perish; surely they were criminals.

Ayah 44:38 الأية
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ
Sahih International
And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play.
Muhsin Khan
And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for
mere play,
Pickthall
And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in
play.
Yusuf Ali
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle)
sport:
Shakir
And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in
sport.
Dr. Ghali
And in no way did We create the heavens and the earth and whatever is between
them both, playing;

Ayah 44:39 الأية
مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Sahih International
We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know.
Muhsin Khan
We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are
obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and
punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not.
Pickthall
We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not.
Yusuf Ali
We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand.
Shakir
We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know.
Dr. Ghali
In no way did We create them both except with The Truth; but most of them do not
know.

Ayah 44:40 الأية
إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all -
Muhsin Khan
Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is
the time appointed for all of them,
Pickthall
Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them,
Yusuf Ali
Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,-
Shakir
Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them
Dr. Ghali
Surely the Day of Verdict is their appointed time all together-

Ayah 44:41 الأية
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
Sahih International
The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped -
Muhsin Khan
The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in
aught, and no help can they receive,
Pickthall
A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped,
Yusuf Ali
The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they
receive,
Shakir
The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be
helped,
Dr. Ghali
The Day a patronizer will not avail any patronized thing, and they will not be
vindicated,

Ayah 44:42 الأية
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Sahih International
Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in
Might, the Merciful.
Muhsin Khan
Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most
Merciful.
Pickthall
Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Yusuf Ali
Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
Shakir
Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful.
Dr. Ghali
Except him on whom Allah has mercy; surely He, Ever He, is The Ever-Mighty, The
Ever-Merciful.

Ayah 44:43 الأية
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ
Sahih International
Indeed, the tree of zaqqum

Verily, the tree of Zaqqum,

Lo! the tree of Zaqqum,

Verily the tree of Zaqqum
Shakir
Surely the tree of the Zaqqum,
Dr. Ghali
Surely the Tree of ÉAz-Zaqqûm,

Ayah 44:44 الأية
طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ
Sahih International
Is food for the sinful.

Will be the food of the sinners,

The food of the sinner!

Will be the food of the Sinful,-

Is the food of the sinful
Dr. Ghali
Is the food of the constantly vicious.

Ayah 44:45 الأية
كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ
Sahih International
Like murky oil, it boils within bellies
Muhsin Khan
Like boiling oil, it will boil in the bellies,
Pickthall
Like molten brass, it seetheth in their bellies
Yusuf Ali
Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides.
Shakir
Like dregs of oil; it shall boil in (their) bellies,
Dr. Ghali
Like molten metal, it boils in the bellies,

Ayah 44:46 الأية
كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ
Sahih International
Like the boiling of scalding water.

Like the boiling of scalding water.

As the seething of boiling water.

Like the boiling of scalding water.
Shakir
Like the boiling of hot water.
Dr. Ghali
As the boiling of scalding water.

Ayah 44:47 الأية
خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ
Sahih International
[It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire,
Muhsin Khan
(It will be said) "Seize him and drag him into the midst of blazing Fire,
Pickthall
(And it will be said): Take him and drag him to the midst of hell,
Yusuf Ali
(A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing
Fire!
Shakir
Seize him, then drag him down into the middle of the hell;
Dr. Ghali
"Take him, then thrust him into the (deepest) level of Hell-Fire;

Ayah 44:48 الأية
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ
Sahih International
Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water."
Muhsin Khan
"Then pour over his head the torment of boiling water,
Pickthall
Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water.
Yusuf Ali
"Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water,
Shakir
Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water:
Dr. Ghali
Thereafter pour above his head of the torment of scalding (water)!

Ayah 44:49 الأية
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ
Sahih International
[It will be said], "Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble!
Muhsin Khan
"Taste you (this)! Verily, you were (pretending to be) the mighty, the generous!
Pickthall
(Saying): Taste! Lo! thou wast forsooth the mighty, the noble!
Yusuf Ali
"Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour!
Shakir
Taste; you forsooth are the mighty, the honorable:
Dr. Ghali
Taste! Surely you, (only) you are (i.e., you used to think that you were mighty)
the constantly mighty, the constantly honorable!

Ayah 44:50 الأية
إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ
Sahih International
Indeed, this is what you used to dispute."
Muhsin Khan
"Verily! This is that whereof you used to doubt!"
Pickthall
Lo! this is that whereof ye used to doubt.
Yusuf Ali
"Truly this is what ye used to doubt!"
Shakir
Surely this is what you disputed about.
Dr. Ghali
Surely this is what you used to wrangle about."

Ayah 44:51 الأية
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
Sahih International
Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place;
Muhsin Khan
Verily! The Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2), will be in place of Security
(Paradise).
Pickthall
Lo! those who kept their duty will be in a place secured.
Yusuf Ali
As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security,
Shakir
Surely those who guard (against evil) are in a secure place,
Dr. Ghali
Surely the pious will be in a station constantly secure,

Ayah 44:52 الأية
فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Sahih International
Within gardens and springs,

Among Gardens and Springs;

Amid gardens and watersprings,

Among Gardens and Springs;

In gardens and springs;

In Gardens and Springs,

Ayah 44:53 الأية
يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
Sahih International
Wearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other.
Muhsin Khan
Dressed in fine silk and (also) in thick silk, facing each other,
Pickthall
Attired in silk and silk embroidery, facing one another.
Yusuf Ali
Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other;
Shakir
They shall wear of fine and thick silk, (sitting) face to face;
Dr. Ghali
Wearing (garments) of serenest and brocade, facing one another.

Ayah 44:54 الأية
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
Sahih International
Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
Muhsin Khan
So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Houris (female fair ones) with wide,
lovely eyes.
Pickthall
Even so (it will be). And We shall wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely
eyes.
Yusuf Ali
So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.
Shakir
Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones.
Dr. Ghali
Thus (it will be); and We will espouse them to wide-eyed h?r (Fair females in
paradise).

Ayah 44:55 الأية
يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ
Sahih International
They will call therein for every [kind of] fruit - safe and secure.
Muhsin Khan
They will call therein for every kind of fruit in peace and security;
Pickthall
They call therein for every fruit in safety.
Yusuf Ali
There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security;
Shakir
They shall call therein for every fruit in security;
Dr. Ghali
Therein (they will be) calling for every (kind) of fruit, secure.

Ayah 44:56 الأية
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ
عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Sahih International
They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have
protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
Muhsin Khan
They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and
He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire,
Pickthall
They taste not death therein, save the first death. And He hath saved them from
the doom of hell,
Yusuf Ali
Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve
them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,-
Shakir
They shall not taste therein death except the first death, and He will save them
from the punishment of the hell,
Dr. Ghali
They will not taste therein of death, except the first death, and He will
protect them from the torment of Hell-Fire,
|
Ayah 44:57 الأية
فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
Sahih International
As bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment.
Muhsin Khan
As a Bounty from your Lord! That will be the supreme success!
Pickthall
A bounty from thy Lord. That is the supreme triumph.
Yusuf Ali
As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement!
Shakir
A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement.
Dr. Ghali
A Grace from your Lord; that is it which is the magnificent triumph.

Ayah 44:58 الأية
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
Sahih International
And indeed, We have eased the Qur'an in your tongue that they might be reminded.
Muhsin Khan
Certainly, We have made this (Quran) easy in your tongue, in order that they may
remember.
Pickthall
And We have made (this Scripture) easy in thy language only that they may heed.
Yusuf Ali
Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may
give heed.
Shakir
So have We made it easy in your tongue that they may be mindful.
Dr. Ghali
So We have surely made it easy by your tongue, only that possibly they would
remind themselves.

Ayah 44:59 الأية
فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
Sahih International
So watch, [O Muhammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end].
Muhsin Khan
Wait then (O Muhammad SAW); Verily, they (too) are waiting.
Pickthall
Wait then (O Muhammad). Lo! they (too) are waiting.
Yusuf Ali
So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.
Shakir
Therefore wait; surely they are waiting.
Dr. Ghali
Then be on the watch; surely they (too) are on the watch.
