First Ayah 1 الأية الأوليبِسْم ِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انفَطَرَتْ
Sahih International
When the sky breaks apart

When the heaven is cleft asunder.

When the heaven is cleft asunder,

When the Sky is cleft asunder;

When the heaven becomes cleft asunder,

When the heaven will be rent asunder,

Ayah 82:2 الأية
وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انتَثَرَتْ
Sahih International
And when the stars fall, scattering,

And when the stars have fallen and scattered;

When the planets are dispersed,

When the Stars are scattered;

And when the stars become dispersed,

And when the planets will be strewn,

Ayah 82:3 الأية
وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ
Sahih International
And when the seas are erupted

And when the seas are burst forth (got dried up);

When the seas are poured forth,

When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;

And when the seas are made to flow forth,
Dr. Ghali
And when the seas will be made to gush forth,

Ayah 82:4 الأية
وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
Sahih International
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,

And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents)

And the sepulchres are overturned,
Yusuf Ali
And when the Graves are turned upside down;-

And when the graves are laid open,
Dr. Ghali
And when the tombs will be scattered away-

Ayah 82:5 الأية
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ
Sahih International
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
Muhsin Khan
(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind
(of good or bad deeds).
Pickthall
A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
Yusuf Ali
(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept
back.
Shakir
Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back.
Dr. Ghali
A self will know whatever it has forwarded and deferred.

Ayah 82:6 الأية
يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ
Sahih International
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
Muhsin Khan
O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
Pickthall
O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
Yusuf Ali
O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-
Shakir
O man! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one,
Dr. Ghali
O you man! What has deluded you concerning your Ever-Honorable Lord,

Ayah 82:7 الأية
الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Sahih International
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
Muhsin Khan
Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
Pickthall
Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
Yusuf Ali
Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just
bias;
Shakir
Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical?
Dr. Ghali
Who created you, then molded you, then proportioned you?

Ayah 82:8 الأية
فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ
Sahih International
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
Muhsin Khan
In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
Pickthall
Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
Yusuf Ali
In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.
Shakir
Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you.
Dr. Ghali
In whichever fashion He (so) decides, He compounds you.

Ayah 82:9 الأية
كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ
Sahih International
No! But you deny the Recompense.
Muhsin Khan
Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil
deeds).
Pickthall
Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
Yusuf Ali
Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment!
Shakir
Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day,
Dr. Ghali
Not at all! No indeed, (but) you cry lies to the Doom.

Ayah 82:10 الأية
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ
Sahih International
And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
Muhsin Khan
But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you.
Pickthall
Lo! there are above you guardians,
Yusuf Ali
But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,-
Shakir
And most surely there are keepers over you
Dr. Ghali
And surely there are indeed over you Preservers,
|
Ayah 82:11 الأية
كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ
Sahih International
Noble and recording;
Muhsin Khan
Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds).
Pickthall
Generous and recording,
Yusuf Ali
Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds):
Shakir
Honorable recorders,
Dr. Ghali
Honorable Writers,

Ayah 82:12 الأية
يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
Sahih International
They know whatever you do.
Muhsin Khan
They know all that you do.
Pickthall
Who know (all) that ye do.
Yusuf Ali
They know (and understand) all that ye do.
Shakir
They know what you do.
Dr. Ghali
(Who) know whatever you perform.

Ayah 82:13 الأية
إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ
Sahih International
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
Muhsin Khan
Verily, the Abrar (pious and righteous) will be in delight (Paradise);
Pickthall
Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
Yusuf Ali
As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss;
Shakir
Most surely the righteous are in bliss,
Dr. Ghali
Surely the constantly benign will indeed be in Bliss,
|
Ayah 82:14 الأية
وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ
Sahih International
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
Muhsin Khan
And verily, the Fujjar (the wicked, disbelievers, sinners and evil-doers) will
be in the blazing Fire (Hell),
Pickthall
And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
Yusuf Ali
And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire,
Shakir
And most surely the wicked are in burning fire,
Dr. Ghali
And surely the constantly impious will indeed be in Hell-Fire,

Ayah 82:15 الأية
يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ
Sahih International
They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
Muhsin Khan
In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense,
Pickthall
They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
Yusuf Ali
Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment,
Shakir
They shall enter it on the day of judgment.
Dr. Ghali
Roasting therein on the Day of Doom.

Ayah 82:16 الأية
وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ
Sahih International
And never therefrom will they be absent.
Muhsin Khan
And they (Al-Fujjar) will not be absent therefrom (i.e. will not go out from the
Hell).
Pickthall
And will not be absent thence.
Yusuf Ali
And they will not be able to keep away therefrom.
Shakir
And they shall by no means be absent from it.
Dr. Ghali
And in no way will they be absent from it.

Ayah 82:17 الأية
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
Sahih International
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?

Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Yusuf Ali
And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
Shakir
And what will make you realize what the day of judgement is?

And what makes you realize what the Day of Doom is?

Ayah 82:18 الأية
ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
Sahih International
Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?

Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?
Pickthall
Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Yusuf Ali
Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
Shakir
Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgment Is?
Dr. Ghali
Again, (Literally: Thereafter) what makes you realize what the Day of Doom is?

Ayah 82:19 الأية
يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ
Sahih International
It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a
thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah .
Muhsin Khan
(It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for
another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
Pickthall
A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute)
command on that day is Allah's.
Yusuf Ali
(It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another:
For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
Shakir
The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul; and the
command on that day shall be entirely Allah's.
Dr. Ghali
A Day when no self will possess anything (to help) another self; and the Command
upon that Day belongs to Allah.
