First Ayah 1 الأية الأوليبِسْم ِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Ta-Sin-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but
Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.]

Ayah 26:2 الأية
تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
Sahih International
These are the verses of the clear Book.
Muhsin Khan
These are the Verses of the manifest Book [this Quran, which was promised by
Allah in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), makes things clear].
Pickthall
These are revelations of the Scripture that maketh plain.
Yusuf Ali
These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.
Shakir
These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.
Dr. Ghali
Those (Literally: that). are the Éayat (Verses, signs) of the evident Book.

Ayah 26:3 الأية
لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
Sahih International
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be
believers.
Muhsin Khan
It may be that you (O Muhammad SAW) are going to kill yourself with grief, that
they do not become believers [in your Risalah (Messengership) and in your
Message of Islamic Monotheism].
Pickthall
It may be that thou tormentest thyself (O Muhammad) because they believe not.
Yusuf Ali
It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.
Shakir
Perhaps you will kill yourself with grief because they do not believe.
Dr. Ghali
You would possibly consume yourself that they are not believers.

Ayah 26:4 الأية
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ
لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ
Sahih International
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their
necks would remain humbled.
Muhsin Khan
If We will, We could send down to them from the heaven a sign, to which they
would bend their necks in humility.
Pickthall
If We will, We can send down on them from the sky a portent so that their necks
would remain bowed before it.
Yusuf Ali
If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to
which they would bend their necks in humility.
Shakir
If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven so that their
necks should stoop to it.
Dr. Ghali
In case We (so) decide, We will be sending down on them from the heaven a sign
so their necks linger subdued to it.

Ayah 26:5 الأية
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ
مُعْرِضِينَ
Sahih International
And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they
turn away from it.
Muhsin Khan
And never comes there unto them a Reminder as a recent revelation from the Most
Beneficent (Allah), but they turn away therefrom.
Pickthall
Never cometh there unto them a fresh reminder from the Beneficent One, but they
turn away from it.
Yusuf Ali
But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious,
but they turn away therefrom.
Shakir
And there does not come to them a new reminder from the Beneficent Allah but
they turn aside from it.
Dr. Ghali
And in no way does a recent Remembrance come up to them from The All-Merciful
except they are veering away from it.

Ayah 26:6 الأية
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
Sahih International
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which
they used to ridicule.
Muhsin Khan
So they have indeed denied (the truth - this Quran), then the news of what they
mocked at, will come to them.
Pickthall
Now they have denied (the Truth); but there will come unto them tidings of that
whereat they used to scoff.
Yusuf Ali
They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the
truth of what they mocked at!
Shakir
So they have indeed rejected (the truth), therefore the news of that which they
mock shall soon come to them.
Dr. Ghali
Then they have readily cried lies; so the tidings will soon come up to them of
what they used to mock at.

Ayah 26:7 الأية
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
Sahih International
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every
noble kind?
Muhsin Khan
Do they not observe the earth, how much of every good kind We cause to grow
therein?
Pickthall
Have they not seen the earth, how much of every fruitful kind We make to grow
therein?
Yusuf Ali
Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have
produced therein?
Shakir
Do they not see the earth, how many of every noble kind We have caused to grow
in it?
Dr. Ghali
And have they not regarded the earth, how many therein We have caused to grow of
every honorable pair?.

Ayah 26:8 الأية
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Muhsin Khan
Verily, in this is an Ayah (proof or sign), yet most of them (polytheists,
pagans, etc., who do not believe in Resurrection) are not believers.
Pickthall
Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers.
Yusuf Ali
Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.
Shakir
Most surely there is a sign in that, but most of them will not believe.
Dr. Ghali
Surely in that is indeed a sign; and in no way were most of them believers.

Ayah 26:9 الأية
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Sahih International
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Muhsin Khan
And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
Pickthall
And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful.
Yusuf Ali
And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
Shakir
And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Dr. Ghali
And surely your Lord, He is indeed The Ever Mighty, The Ever-Merciful.

Ayah 26:10 الأية
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Sahih International
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing
people -
Muhsin Khan
And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people
who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing),
Pickthall
And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk,
Yusuf Ali
Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-
Shakir
And when your Lord called out to Musa, saying: Go to the unjust people,
Dr. Ghali
And as your Lord called out to Musa, (Moses) (saying), "Come up to the unjust
people,

Ayah 26:11 الأية
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
Sahih International
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah ?"
Muhsin Khan
The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?"
Pickthall
The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)?
Yusuf Ali
"The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"
Shakir
The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)?
Dr. Ghali
The people of Firaawn. (Pharaoh) Will they not be pious?"

Ayah 26:12 الأية
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
Sahih International
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
Muhsin Khan
He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me,
Pickthall
He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me,
Yusuf Ali
He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:
Shakir
He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me;
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Lord! Surely I fear they will cry me lies,

Ayah 26:13 الأية
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ
Sahih International
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for
Aaron.
Muhsin Khan
"And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun
(Aaron) (to come along with me).
Pickthall
And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send
for Aaron (to help me).
Yusuf Ali
"My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto
Aaron.
Shakir
And by breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to
Haroun (to help me);
Dr. Ghali
And my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be free. (i.e., it will
not express well; literally, will not go off freely) So send to Harun. (Aaron).

Ayah 26:14 الأية
وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
Sahih International
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
Muhsin Khan
"And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me."
Pickthall
And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me.
Yusuf Ali
"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay
me."
Shakir
And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me.
Dr. Ghali
And they have a guilty deed against me; so I fear they will kill me."

Ayah 26:15 الأية
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
Sahih International
[ Allah ] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you,
listening.
Muhsin Khan
Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you,
listening.
Pickthall
He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you,
Hearing.
Yusuf Ali
Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with
you, and will listen (to your call).
Shakir
He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you,
hearing;
Dr. Ghali
Said He, "Not at all, so go (both of you) with Our signs; surely We will be with
you, listening.

Ayah 26:16 الأية
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Sahih International
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
Muhsin Khan
"And when you both come to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), say: 'We are the Messengers of the
Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists),
Pickthall
And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the
Worlds,
Yusuf Ali
"So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord
and Cherisher of the worlds;
Shakir
Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the messengers of the Lord of the
worlds:
Dr. Ghali
So come up to Firaawn, then say (to him), "We (both) are the Messenger of The
Lord of the worlds;

Ayah 26:17 الأية
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Sahih International
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
Muhsin Khan
"So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' "
Pickthall
(Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us.
Yusuf Ali
"'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"
Shakir
Then send with us the children of Israel.
Dr. Ghali
(Saying) Send forth with us the Seeds (Or: sons) of ." Israel)

Ayah 26:18 الأية
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained
among us for years of your life?
Muhsin Khan
[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as
a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us.
Pickthall
(Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou
didst dwell many years of thy life among us,
Yusuf Ali
(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not
stay in our midst many years of thy life?
Shakir
(Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among
us for (many) years of your life?
Dr. Ghali
Said he, "Did we not rear you among us as a newborn, and did you not linger
among us years of your age?

Ayah 26:19 الأية
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Sahih International
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
Muhsin Khan
"And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you
are one of the ingrates."
Pickthall
And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the
ingrates.
Yusuf Ali
"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an
ungrateful (wretch)!"
Shakir
And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the
ungrateful.
Dr. Ghali
And you performed the performance you performed and you were one of the
disbelievers."

Ayah 26:20 الأية
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ
Sahih International
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
Muhsin Khan
Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord
and His Message).
Pickthall
He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray.
Yusuf Ali
Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.
Shakir
He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course;
Dr. Ghali
He (Musa) (Moses) said, "lo, I performed it and I was of the erring.

Ayah 26:21 الأية
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي
مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Sahih International
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and
prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
Muhsin Khan
"So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e.
religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and
appointed me as one of the Messengers.
Pickthall
Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and
appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him).
Yusuf Ali
"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me
with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.
Shakir
So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me
of the messengers;
Dr. Ghali
So I fled from you as soon as I feared you. Then my Lord bestowed upon me
judgment and He made me one of the Emissaries.

Ayah 26:22 الأية
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Sahih International
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children
of Israel?"
Muhsin Khan
"And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved
the Children of Israel."
Pickthall
And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast
enslaved the Children of Israel.
Yusuf Ali
"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast
enslaved the Children of Israel!"
Shakir
And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of
Israel?
Dr. Ghali
And is that a favor you oblige me with, that you have taken the Seeds (Or: sons)
of Israel) as slaves."

Ayah 26:23 الأية
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Sahih International
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
Muhsin Khan
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and
all that exists)?"
Pickthall
Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds?
Yusuf Ali
Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"
Shakir
Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds?
Dr. Ghali
Firaawn (Pharaoh) said, "And what is The Lord of the worlds."

Ayah 26:24 الأية
قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Sahih International
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you
should be convinced."
Muhsin Khan
Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between
them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty."
Pickthall
(Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if
ye had but sure belief.
Yusuf Ali
(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all
between,- if ye want to be quite sure."
Shakir
He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you
would be sure.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them
(both), in case you have certitude."

Ayah 26:25 الأية
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
Muhsin Khan
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?"
Pickthall
(Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not?
Yusuf Ali
(Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"
Shakir
(Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear?
Dr. Ghali
He said to the ones around him, "Do you not listen."

Ayah 26:26 الأية
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Sahih International
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
Muhsin Khan
Musa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!"
Pickthall
He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers.
Yusuf Ali
(Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"
Shakir
He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Your Lord and The Lord of your earliest fathers."

Ayah 26:27 الأية
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
Muhsin Khan
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a
madman!"
Pickthall
(Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a
madman!
Yusuf Ali
(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable
madman!"
Shakir
Said he: Most surely your Messenger who is sent to you is mad.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Surely your Messenger who has been sent to you is indeed a madman."

Ayah 26:28 الأية
قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ
تَعْقِلُونَ
Sahih International
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were
to reason."
Muhsin Khan
Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them,
if you did but understand!"
Pickthall
He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did
but understand.
Yusuf Ali
(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had
sense!"
Shakir
He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you
understand.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "The Lord of the east and the west and whatever is between them (both),
in case you (can) consider."

Ayah 26:29 الأية
قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among
those imprisoned."
Muhsin Khan
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will
certainly put you among the prisoners."
Pickthall
(Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place
thee among the prisoners.
Yusuf Ali
(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will
certainly put thee in prison!"
Shakir
Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one
of the imprisoned.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Indeed in case you take to yourself a god other than me, indeed I will
definitely make you one of the imprisoned."

Ayah 26:30 الأية
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
Sahih International
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"
Muhsin Khan
Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?"
Pickthall
He said: Even though I show thee something plain?
Yusuf Ali
(Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"
Shakir
He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest?
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Even if I come to you with (some) thing evident?"
|
Ayah 26:31 الأية
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
Muhsin Khan
Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!"
Pickthall
(Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful!
Yusuf Ali
(Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"
Shakir
Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Come up with it then, in case you are of the sincere ones."

Ayah 26:32 الأية
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
Sahih International
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
Muhsin Khan
So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest.
Pickthall
Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest,
Yusuf Ali
So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!
Shakir
So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent,
Dr. Ghali
So he cast his staff, then, only then was it a (demonstrably) evident serpent.

Ayah 26:33 الأية
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
Sahih International
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
Muhsin Khan
And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
Pickthall
And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders.
Yusuf Ali
And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!
Shakir
And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers.
Dr. Ghali
And he drew out his hand, then, only then was it white to the onlookers.

Ayah 26:34 الأية
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned
magician.
Muhsin Khan
[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a
well-versed sorcerer.

(Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard,

(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:

(Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician,

Ayah 26:35 الأية
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
Sahih International
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
Muhsin Khan
"He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery, then what is it your
counsel, and what do you command?"
Pickthall
Who would drive you out of your land by his magic. Now what counsel ye?
Yusuf Ali
"His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye
counsel?"
Shakir
Who desires to turn you out of your land with his magic; what is it then that
you advise?
Dr. Ghali
Who would like to drive you out of your land by his sorcery; so what do you
command?"

Ayah 26:36 الأية
قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Sahih International
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the
cities gatherers

They said: "Put him off and his brother (for a while), and send callers to the
cities

They said: Put him off, (him) and his brother, and send into the cities
summoners

They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to
the Cities heralds to collect-

They said: Give him and his brother respite and send heralds into the cities

They said, "Put him off, (him) and his brother, and send forth into the cities

Ayah 26:37 الأية
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
Sahih International
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."

"To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer."
Pickthall
Who shall bring unto thee every knowing wizard.
Yusuf Ali
"And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed."
Shakir
That they should bring to you every skillful magician.
Dr. Ghali
Who will come up to you with every crafty, knowledgeable sorcerer."

Ayah 26:38 الأية
فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
Sahih International
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.

So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed.
Pickthall
So the wizards were gathered together at a set time on a day appointed.
Yusuf Ali
So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known,

So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day,

So the sorcerers were gathered (together) for the fixed time on a known day. (A
day of festival)

Ayah 26:39 الأية
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
Sahih International
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate

And it was said to the people: "Are you (too) going to assemble?
Pickthall
And it was said unto the people: Are ye (also) gathering?
Yusuf Ali
And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?-
Shakir
And it was said to the people: Will you gather together?
Dr. Ghali
And it was said to the citizens, "Will you be gathered (together).

Ayah 26:40 الأية
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Sahih International
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
Muhsin Khan
"That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) religion of
disbelief] if they are the winners."
Pickthall
(They said): Aye, so that we may follow the wizards if they are the winners.
Yusuf Ali
"That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"
Shakir
Haply we may follow the magicians, if they are the vanquishers.
Dr. Ghali
That possibly we would closely follow the sorcerers, in case they are the ones
who are the overcomers?"

Ayah 26:41 الأية
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن
كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Sahih International
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a
reward if we are the predominant?"
Muhsin Khan
So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Fir'aun (Pharaoh): "Will there
surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?"
Pickthall
And when the wizards came they said unto Pharaoh: Will there surely be a reward
for us if we are the winners?
Yusuf Ali
So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have
a (suitable) reward if we win?
Shakir
And when the magicians came, they said to Firon: Shall we get a reward if we are
the vanquishers?
Dr. Ghali
Then, when the sorcerers came, they said to Firaawn, (Pharaoh) "will we surely
have a reward indeed, in case we are the ones who are the overcomers?"

Ayah 26:42 الأية
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ
Sahih International
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
Muhsin Khan
He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)."
Pickthall
He said: Aye, and ye will then surely be of those brought near (to me).
Yusuf Ali
He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts)
nearest (to my person)."
Shakir
He said: Yes, and surely you will then be of those who are made near.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Yes, and lo indeed, surely you will be indeed among the
near-stationed."

Ayah 26:43 الأية
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
Sahih International
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
Muhsin Khan
Musa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!"
Pickthall
Moses said unto them: Throw what ye are going to throw!
Yusuf Ali
Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"
Shakir
Musa said to them: Cast what you are going to cast.
Dr. Ghali
Musa (Moses) said to them, "Cast you down whatever you will be casting."

Ayah 26:44 الأية
فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا
لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ
Sahih International
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh,
indeed it is we who are predominant."
Muhsin Khan
So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun
(Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!"
Pickthall
Then they threw down their cords and their staves and said: By Pharaoh's might,
lo! we verily are the winners.
Yusuf Ali
So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it
is we who will certainly win!"
Shakir
So they cast down their cords and their rods and said: By Firon's power, we
shall most surely be victorious.
Dr. Ghali
So they cast down their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of
Firaawn, we, surely we, will indeed be the overcomers."

Ayah 26:45 الأية
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
Sahih International
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
Muhsin Khan
Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the
falsehoods which they showed!
Pickthall
Then Moses threw his staff and lo! it swallowed that which they did falsely
show.
Yusuf Ali
Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the
falsehoods which they fake!

Then Musa cast down his staff and lo! it swallowed up the lies they told.

Then Musa cast down his staff, then, only then did it gulp whatever falshood
they (showed).

Ayah 26:46 الأية
فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ
Sahih International
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah ].

And the sorcerers fell down prostrate.

And the wizards were flung prostrate,

Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,

And the magicians were thrown down prostrate;

قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,

exists).

Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,

The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

Ayah 26:49 الأية
قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي
عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ
وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Sahih International
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is
your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely
cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify
you all."
Muhsin Khan
[Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave.
Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall
come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides,
and I will crucify you all."
Pickthall
(Pharaoh) said: Ye put your faith in him before I give you leave. Lo! he
doubtless is your chief who taught you magic! But verily ye shall come to know.
Verily I will cut off your hands and your feet alternately, and verily I will
crucify you every one.
Yusuf Ali
Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is
your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will
cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to
die on the cross!"
Shakir
Said he: You believe in him before I give you permission; most surely he is the
chief of you who taught you the magic, so you shall know: certainly I will cut
off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and certainly I will crucify you
all.
Dr. Ghali
He (Firaawn) said, "You have believed him before I give you permission. Surely
he is indeed your great (master) who taught you sorcery. Yet indeed you will
eventually know! Indeed I will definitely cut off (The form of the verb implies
something done repeatedly, or to a high degree or great extent. (cf. surat yusuf
3 1) your hands and legs alternately, and indeed I will definitely crucify you
all together."

Ayah 26:50 الأية
قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
Sahih International
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
Muhsin Khan
They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return;
Pickthall
They said: It is no hurt, for lo! unto our Lord we shall return.
Yusuf Ali
They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!
Shakir
They said: No harm; surely to our Lord we go back;
Dr. Ghali
They said, "It is no trouble; surely to our Lord we are turning back.
(Literally: turning over)

Ayah 26:51 الأية
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ
الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the
first of the believers."
Muhsin Khan
"Verily! We really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the
first of the believers [in Musa (Moses) and in the Monotheism which he has
brought from Allah]."
Pickthall
Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the
first of the believers.
Yusuf Ali
"Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may
become foremost among the believers!"
Shakir
Surely we hope that our Lord will forgive us our wrongs because we are the first
of the believers.
Dr. Ghali
Surely we long for (the fact) that our Lord should forgive us our sins, for that
we are the first of the believers."

Ayah 26:52 الأية
وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
Sahih International
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be
pursued."
Muhsin Khan
And We inspired Musa (Moses), saying: "Take away My slaves by night, verily, you
will be pursued."
Pickthall
And We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night, for ye will be
pursued.
Yusuf Ali
By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye
shall be pursued."
Shakir
And We revealed to Musa, saying: Go away with My servants travelling by night,
surely you will be pursued.
Dr. Ghali
And We revealed to Musa, (saying), "Set forth with My bondmen by night. Surely
you will be closely followed."

Ayah 26:53 الأية
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Sahih International
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

Then Fir'aun (Pharaoh) sent callers to (all) the cities.

Then Pharaoh sent into the cities summoners,

Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,

So Firon sent heralds into the cities;

Then Firaawn sent among the cities musterers.

Ayah 26:54 الأية
إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
Sahih International
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,

(Saying): "Verily! These indeed are but a small band.

(Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop,
Yusuf Ali
(Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,

Most surely these are a small company;

"Surely these are indeed a gang of a few (persons),

Ayah 26:55 الأية
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ
Sahih International
And indeed, they are enraging us,

"And verily, they have done what has enraged us;

And lo! they are offenders against us.

"And they are raging furiously against us;
Shakir
And most surely they have enraged us;
Dr. Ghali
And surely they are indeed enraging us,

Ayah 26:56 الأية
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ
Sahih International
And indeed, we are a cautious society... "

"But we are host all assembled, amply fore-warned."

And lo! we are a ready host.

"But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."

And most surely we are a vigilant multitude.

And surely we are indeed all wary."

فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

So We removed them from gardens and springs

وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

And treasures and honorable station -

Treasures, and every kind of honourable place.

And treasures and a fair estate.

Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;

And treasures and goodly dwellings,

And hoardings, and an honorable station.

Ayah 26:59 الأية
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Sahih International
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.

Thus [We turned them (Pharaoh's people) out] and We caused the Children of
Israel to inherit them.
Pickthall
Thus (were those things taken from them) and We caused the Children of Israel to
inherit them.
Yusuf Ali
Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.

Even so. And We gave them as a heritage to the children of Israel.

Thus, We gave them as an inheritance to the Seeds (Or: sons) of Israel).

Ayah 26:60 الأية
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
Sahih International
So they pursued them at sunrise.

So they pursued them at sunrise.

And they overtook them at sunrise.

So they pursued them at sunrise.

Then they pursued them at sunrise.

So they (Firaawn) (Pharaoh) and his hosts) followed them up at sunshine. (Or:

Ayah 26:61 الأية
فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
Sahih International
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said,
"Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"
Muhsin Khan
And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa (Moses) said: "We
are sure to be overtaken."
Pickthall
And when the two hosts saw each other, those with Moses said: Lo! we are indeed
caught.
Yusuf Ali
And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure
to be overtaken."
Shakir
So when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Musa cried out: Most
surely we are being overtaken.
Dr. Ghali
Then, as soon as the two gatherings sighted each other, the companions of Musa
(Moses) said, "Surely we are indeed overtaken!"

Ayah 26:62 الأية
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ
Sahih International
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
Muhsin Khan
[Musa (Moses)] said: "Nay, verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me."
Pickthall
He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me.
Yusuf Ali
(Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"
Shakir
He said: By no means; surely my Lord is with me: He will show me a way out.
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Not at all. Surely my Lord is with me; He will soon guide me."

Ayah 26:63 الأية
فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ
فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ
Sahih International
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and
each portion was like a great towering mountain.
Muhsin Khan
Then We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Strike the sea with your stick." And it
parted, and each separate part (of that sea water) became like the huge, firm
mass of a mountain.
Pickthall
Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and
each part was as a mountain vast.
Yusuf Ali
Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided,
and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain.
Shakir
Then We revealed to Musa: Strike the sea with your staff. So it had cloven
asunder, and each part was like a huge mound.
Dr. Ghali
Then We revealed to Musa, (saying), "Strike with your staff the sea." So it
split, and each (separate) part was as a tremendous towering mountain.

Ayah 26:64 الأية
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ
Sahih International
And We advanced thereto the pursuers.

Then We brought near the others [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) party] to that place.

Then brought We near the others to that place.
Yusuf Ali
And We made the other party approach thither.
Shakir
And We brought near, there, the others.
Dr. Ghali
And We drew forward the others there.

Ayah 26:65 الأية
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ
Sahih International
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

And We saved Musa (Moses) and all those with him.

And We saved Moses and those with him, every one;

We delivered Moses and all who were with him;

And We saved Musa and those with him, all of them.

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

Then We drowned the others.

Ayah 26:67 الأية
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Verily! In this is indeed a sign (or a proof), yet most of them are not
believers.

Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers.
Yusuf Ali
Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.
Dr. Ghali
Surely in that is indeed a sign, and in no way were most of them believers.

Ayah 26:68 الأية
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Sahih International
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Muhsin Khan
And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
Pickthall
And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful.
Yusuf Ali
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
Shakir
And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Dr. Ghali
And surely your Lord, He is indeed The Ever-Mighty, The Ever-Merciful.

Ayah 26:69 الأية
وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Sahih International
And recite to them the news of Abraham,

And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham).

Recite unto them the story of Abraham:

And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story.

And recite to them the story of Ibrahim.

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?"

When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye?

Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?"

When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship?

As he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?

Ayah 26:71 الأية
قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ
Sahih International
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
Muhsin Khan
They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted."
Pickthall
They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them.
Yusuf Ali
They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them."
Shakir
They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries.
Dr. Ghali
They said, "We worship idols, so we linger on consecrating (ourselves) to them."

Ayah 26:72 الأية
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
Sahih International
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
Muhsin Khan
He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)?
Pickthall
He said: Do they hear you when ye cry?
Yusuf Ali
He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"
Shakir
He said: Do they hear you when you call?
Dr. Ghali
He said, "Do they hear you as you invoke (them)?

Ayah 26:73 الأية
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
Sahih International
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
Muhsin Khan
"Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?"
Pickthall
Or do they benefit or harm you?
Yusuf Ali
"Or do you good or harm?"
Shakir
Or do they profit you or cause you harm?
Dr. Ghali
Or do they profit you or harm (you)?"

Ayah 26:74 الأية
قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
Sahih International
They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."
Muhsin Khan
They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so."
Pickthall
They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise.
Yusuf Ali
They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."
Shakir
They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so.
Dr. Ghali
They said, "No indeed, (but) we found our fathers thus performing."

Ayah 26:75 الأية
قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
Sahih International
He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping,

He said: See now that which ye worship,

He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,-

He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping:

Ayah 26:76 الأية
أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ
Sahih International
You and your ancient forefathers?

"You and your ancient fathers?

Ye and your forefathers!

"Ye and your fathers before you?-

You and your ancient sires.

You and your fathers of old?

Ayah 26:77 الأية
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,

"Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns
and all that exists);

Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds,

Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds;

Ayah 26:78 الأية
الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ

Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.

"Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me;

Who created me, and He doth guide me,

"Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;

Who created me, then He has shown me the way:

Ayah 26:79 الأية
وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ

And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

"And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink.

And Who feedeth me and watereth me.

"Who gives me food and drink,

And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink:

وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ

And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

And when I sicken, then He healeth me,

وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ

And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again),

Ayah 26:82 الأية
وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

"And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of
Resurrection),"

And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment.

"And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.

And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment.

And Whom I long (that) He will forgive me my offense (s) on the Day of Doom.

Ayah 26:83 الأية
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
Sahih International
[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and
Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous;
Pickthall
My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous.
Yusuf Ali
"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;
Shakir
My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good
Dr. Ghali
My Lord! Bestow upon me judgment, and join me with the righteous,

Ayah 26:84 الأية
وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
Sahih International
And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.

And grant me an honourable mention in later generations;

And give unto me a good report in later generations.

"Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest
(generations);

And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity

And make for me a tongue of sincerity (Truthfulness) in the later (generations).

Ayah 26:85 الأية
وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ

And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight;

And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight,

"Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss;

And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss

And make me among the heirs of the Garden of Bliss.

Ayah 26:86 الأية
وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ
Sahih International
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.

And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring;
Pickthall
And forgive my father. Lo! heis of those who err.
Yusuf Ali
"Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray;
Shakir
And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray;

And forgive my father; surely he is one of the erring.

Ayah 26:87 الأية
وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
Sahih International
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -

And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected;

And abase me not on the day when they are raised,

"And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;-

And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised

And do not disgrace me the Day when they are made to rise (again),

Ayah 26:88 الأية
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ
Sahih International
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children

The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man)
Yusuf Ali
"The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

The day on which property will not avail, nor sons

The Day when neither money nor sons will profit (anyone),

Ayah 26:89 الأية
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
Sahih International
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."

Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and
Nifaq (hypocrisy)].
Pickthall
Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart.
Yusuf Ali
"But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart;
Shakir
Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil).
Dr. Ghali
Except for him who comes up to Allah with a sound heart."

Ayah 26:90 الأية
وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
Sahih International
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.

And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2).

And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil).
Yusuf Ali
"To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near,

And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil),

And the Garden will be drawn forward for the pious,

Ayah 26:91 الأية
وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ
Sahih International
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring.

And hell will appear plainly to the erring.
Yusuf Ali
"And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view;

And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones,

And Hell Fire will be brought forth for the misguided,

Ayah 26:92 الأية
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to
set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship

And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship

"And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped-

And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship;

And it will be said to them, "Where is that which you used to worship.

Ayah 26:93 الأية
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
Sahih International
Other than Allah ? Can they help you or help themselves?"

"Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?"
Pickthall
Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?
Yusuf Ali
"'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?'
Shakir
Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves?

Apart from Allah? Do they vindicate you or vindicate themselves?"

Ayah 26:94 الأية
فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ
Sahih International
So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators

Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun
(devils, and those who were in error).

Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers

"Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in

So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones,

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ

And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.

And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together.

And the hosts of Iblis, together.

"And the whole hosts of Iblis together.

And the hosts of the Shaitan, all.

Ayah 26:96 الأية
قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ

They will say while they dispute therein,

They will say while contending therein,

And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein:

"They will say there in their mutual bickerings:

They shall say while they contend therein:

They will say, (as) they stood therein, adversaries with each other,

تَاللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

"By Allah , we were indeed in manifest error

By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error,

By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest

"'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest,

إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the
'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists);

When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds.

"'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds;

When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds;
Dr. Ghali
As we made you equal with The Lord of the worlds.

Ayah 26:99 الأية
وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ
Sahih International
And no one misguided us except the criminals.

And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those
of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.].
Pickthall
It was but the guilty who misled us.
Yusuf Ali
"'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt.

And none but the guilty led us astray;
Dr. Ghali
And in no way did anybody lead us into error except the criminals.

Ayah 26:100 الأية
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَافِعِينَ

So now we have no intercessors

"'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us),

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ

And not a devoted friend.

Nor a close friend (to help us).

Nor any loving friend.

"'Nor a single friend to feel (for us).
Shakir
Nor a true friend;
Dr. Ghali
Nor any intimate friend.

Ayah 26:102 الأية
فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Sahih International
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "
Muhsin Khan
(Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be
among the believers!
Pickthall
Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers!
Yusuf Ali
"'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who
believe!'"

But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers.
Dr. Ghali
So, if we had (a chance) to recur, (i.e., to live again) then we should be among
the believers!"

Ayah 26:103 الأية
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Sahih International
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers.
Pickthall
Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers!
Yusuf Ali
Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe.
Shakir
Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.
Dr. Ghali
Surely in that is indeed a sign; and in no way were most of them believers.

Ayah 26:104 الأية
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
Sahih International
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Muhsin Khan
And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
Pickthall
And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful.
Yusuf Ali
And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.
Shakir
And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Dr. Ghali
And surely your Lord, He is indeed The Ever-Mighty, The Ever-Merciful.

Ayah 26:105 الأية
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Sahih International
The people of Noah denied the messengers

The people of Nuh (Noah) belied the Messengers.
Pickthall
Noah's folk denied the messengers (of Allah),
Yusuf Ali
The people of Noah rejected the messengers.
Shakir
The people of Nuh rejected the messengers.
Dr. Ghali
The people of Nuh (Noah) cried lies to the Emissaries,

Ayah 26:106 الأية
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Sahih International
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah ?
Muhsin Khan
When their brother Nuh (Noah) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey
Him?
Pickthall
When their brother Noah said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)?
Yusuf Ali
Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?
Shakir
When their brother Nuh said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)?
Dr. Ghali
As their brother Nuh said to them, "Will you not be pious?

Ayah 26:107 الأية
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
Sahih International
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

"I am a trustworthy Messenger to you.
Pickthall
Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you,
Yusuf Ali
"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:
Shakir
Surely I am a faithful messenger to you;

Surely I am for you a trustworthy Messenger.

Ayah 26:108 الأية
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Sahih International
So fear Allah and obey me.

"So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me.

So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me.
Yusuf Ali
"So fear Allah, and obey me.
Shakir
Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me

So be pious to Allah, and obey me.

Ayah 26:109 الأية
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ
الْعَالَمِينَ
Sahih International
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the
worlds.
Muhsin Khan
"No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward
is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
Pickthall
And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of
the Worlds.

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the
Worlds:

And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the
worlds:

And in no way do I ask of you any reward for (this); decidedly my reward (falls)
upon no one except The Lord of the worlds.

Ayah 26:110 الأية
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Sahih International
So fear Allah and obey me."

"So keep your duty to Allah, fear Him and obey me."

So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me.
Yusuf Ali
"So fear Allah, and obey me."

So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me.

So be pious to Allah, and obey me."

Ayah 26:111 الأية
قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ
Sahih International
They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of
people]?"

They said: "Shall we believe in you, when the meanest (of the people) follow
you?"
Pickthall
They said: Shall we put faith in thee, when the lowest (of the people) follow
thee?
Yusuf Ali
They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?"
Shakir
They said: Shall we believe in you while the meanest follow you?
Dr. Ghali
They said, "should we believe you, and the most decrepit closely follow you?"

Ayah 26:112 الأية
قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Sahih International
He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
Muhsin Khan
He said: "And what knowledge have I of what they used to do?
Pickthall
He said: And what knowledge have I of what they may have been doing (in the
past)?
Yusuf Ali
He said: "And what do I know as to what they do?
Shakir
He said: And what knowledge have I of what they do?
Dr. Ghali
He said, "What knowledge have I of whatever they were doing?

Ayah 26:113 الأية
إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ
Sahih International
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
Muhsin Khan
"Their account is only with my Lord, if you could (but) know.
Pickthall
Lo! their reckoning is my Lord's concern, if ye but knew;
Yusuf Ali
"Their account is only with my Lord, if ye could (but) understand.
Shakir
Their account is only with my Lord, if you could perceive

Decidedly their reckoning (falls) upon no one except my Lord, if you are aware.

Ayah 26:114 الأية
وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

And I am not one to drive away the believers.

"And I am not going to drive away the believers.

And I am not (here) to repulse believers.
Yusuf Ali
"I am not one to drive away those who believe.

And I am not going to drive away the believers;

And in no way would I drive away the believers.

إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

I am only a clear warner."

I am only a plain warner."

"I am sent only to warn plainly in public."

I am naught but a plain warner.

Decidedly I am nothing except an evident warner."

قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ
Sahih International
They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are
stoned."
Muhsin Khan
They said: "If you cease not, O Nuh (Noah)! You will surely be among those
stoned (to death)."
Pickthall
They said: If thou cease not, O Noah, thou wilt surely be among those stoned (to
death).
Yusuf Ali
They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)."
Shakir
They said: If you desist not, O Nuh, you shall most certainly be of those stoned
to death.
Dr. Ghali
They said, "Indeed, decidedly in case you do not refrain, O Nuh, (Noah) indeed
you will definitely be one of the stoned."

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ
Sahih International
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

He said: "My Lord! Verily, my people have belied me.

He said: My Lord! Lo! my own folk deny me.

He said: "O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.
