In an attempt to stop the infighting between al-Qaeda (linked / originated) groups al-Qaeda in the Arabic Peninsula, a respected branch of al-Qaeda, calls upon all Syrian Mujāhidūn:

Letter to the Mujahideen in the Levant, 27 February 2014

After the Muslim nation was given the glad tidings of the opening of the jihad in the Levant, and the raising of the hopes in the souls for the introduction of divine law and the liberation of Jerusalem, we were shocked by the instances of differing between the Mujahideen. We urged the halting of these minor differences. However, the developments caused by Satan and his followers caused the situation to reach the point where the Mujahideen began to fight one another, causing immense damage. Therefore, the catastrophe was widened.

We stand with the groups of Mujahideen there who fight for the sake of God. It saddens us when we hear the news of the killing of any Mujahid, no matter which group he represents. We disapprove of the spilling of innocent blood.

In the beginning of this issue, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was keen to express its position on all of the Jihadi movements, which is "a brother is of his brother". We call upon every Muslim in all places to be innocent of this catastrophe with his words and actions, and we ask God that the words of the Mujahideen are of words of truth.

Our call is to all Muslims in the Levant to avoid spilling the blood of the Muslims with their words and actions. As a result, nobody would have been killed if people had knowledge of this before and retreated before catastrophe occurred.

We remind you of the words of God: {But whoever deliberately slays another believer, his requital shall be hell, therein to abide; and God will condemn him, and will reject him, and will prepare for him awesome suffering.} (Chapter of the Women, Verse 93)

In addition, a saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother in faith: his blood, his wealth and his honor.

In the past, we aimed to arbitrate reconciliation between the Mujahideen, and we remain striving for this as much as possible. We appeal to our brothers to answer the call. If not, then at bare minimum, we call upon the Mujahideen to halt firing upon one another and turning their weapons on the enemy. We do not support the "infidel Mujahideen" who agreed on behalf the Muslim nation to fight others.

We also call upon all the Mujahideen movements there to adhere to the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): Verily the submission is in acts of goodness and not in committing wrongdoing, and the creation must not be submitted to in the disobedience of Allah.

Indeed, the fighting between the Mujahideen is a glad tiding for the enemy. We must therefore unite in order to fight those who found joy in our disputes; the conspirators against the Jihad: Alawites, Zionist, Crusaders, the apostate Gulf Arab leaders.

We remind the people that the jihad is from the past until the Day of Judgment. Whosoever uses the jihad in obedience in God remains firm in belief, and God will substitute whosoever goes rejects the jihad.

As it is said in the Quran {Behold, you are those invited to spend (of your substance) in the way of God: But among you are some that are niggardly. But any who are niggardly are so at the expense of their own souls. But God is free of all wants, and it is you that are needy. If you turn back (from the path), He will substitute in your stead another people; then they would not be like you} (The Chapter of Muhammad, Verse 38)
