أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ
Sahih International Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant? Muhsin Khan Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not seen how your Lord dealt with the Owners of the Elephant? [The elephant army which came from Yemen under the command of Abrahah Al-Ashram intending to destroy the Ka'bah at Makkah]. Pickthall Hast thou not seen how thy Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant? Yusuf Ali Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant? Shakir Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the possessors of the elephant? Dr. Ghali Have you not seen how your Lord performed with the companions (i.e., owners) of the elephant? |

Sahih International And He made them like eaten straw. Muhsin Khan And made them like an empty field of stalks (of which the corn has been eaten up by cattle). Pickthall And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)? Yusuf Ali Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up. Shakir So He rendered them like straw eaten up? Dr. Ghali So He made them like green blades eaten (up). |
