Theme: Go back to your families and stay with them. Teach them (religion) and command them (to adhere to it), perform so-and-so prayer at so-and-so time, and when prayer becomes due, let one of you call the Adhān and let the oldest among you lead you in prayer |

Theme: I have never seen the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) laugh so heartily that his uvula could be seen; rather, he would only smile |

Theme: The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah, by which Allah frightens His slaves. They do not eclipse on account of the death of anyone. So, when there is an eclipse, observe prayer and supplication till it (the eclipse) is over |

Theme: The example of the righteous companion and the evil companion is like that of the musk-seller and the one who blows the bellows |

Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer voluntary prayer on the back of his riding beast (camel), whatever direction it went. He would nod his head. Ibn ‘Umar would do so as well |

Theme: I was a boy during the time of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to memorize some of what he said. Nothing prevented me from narrating (what I learned) except that there were men here who were older than me |

Theme: I saw in my dream that I was using a tooth-stick when two men came to me, one of them older than the other. I gave the tooth-stick to the younger one, but I was told to give it to the older one first, so I did |

Theme: The bankrupt in my Ummah is the one who will come on the Day of Judgment with prayer, fasting and Zakah, but since he hurled abuse at others, accused others of committing adultery without evidence, unlawfully consumed the wealth of others, and shed the blood of others and beat others, his good deeds will be credited to the accounts of others (who suffered at his hands) |

Theme: By the One in Whose hand the life of Muhammad is! I hope that you will constitute one half of the inhabitants of Paradise; and that is because none would be admitted into Paradise except a Muslim |

Theme: I see what you do not see. Heaven is groaning and it has a right to be groaning: there is no space the width of four fingers in it but an angel placing his forehead in prostration to Allah, the Exalted |

Theme: The most excellent dinar that a man spends is the dinar that he spends on his dependents, and the dinar that he spends on his riding-animal in the cause of Allah, and the dinar that he spends on his companions in the cause of Allah. |

Theme: If a Muslim or - a believer - performs ablution, when he washes his face, every sin he has committed with his eyes is washed away with the water, or with the last drop of water |

Theme: How wonderful the affair of the believer is! Indeed, all of his affairs are good for him. This is for none but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is grateful to Allah, which is good for him. And if something bad happens to him, he has patience, which is good for him |

Theme: You indulge in such actions that are less significant in your eyes than a hair, while we used to consider them destructive sins during the Prophet’s lifetime |

Theme: The story of the boy with the king, the sorcerer, and the monk |

Theme: You will experience favoritism after me, so have patience until you meet me at the Basin |

Theme: Your father will suffer no more agony after this day |

Theme: Bilāl was ordered to pronounce the Adhān in pairs and the Iqāmah in singles |

Theme: Avoid the seven destructive sins |

Theme: If Allah willed to do good to His slave, He expedites his punishment in the life of this world, and if He willed to do ill to His slave, He withholds the punishment for his sins until He comes with all his sins on the Day of Resurrection |

Theme: Shall I tell you what I fear more for you than the Antichrist? They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Hidden polytheism; when a man gets up to pray and improves his prayer because he sees another man watching him |

Theme: O Allah, do not make my grave an idol that is worshiped. Allah's wrath was intense upon a people who took the graves of their prophets as places of worship |

Theme: Allah brought the corners of the earth together for me, so I saw its eastern and western parts. The dominion of my Ummah will definitely reach as far as what was brought together for me (all parts of the world). I have been granted the two treasures, the red and the white |

Theme: The greater the tribulation, the greater the reward. When Allah loves people, He tests them. So whoever who is content, for him is content; and whoever is discontent, for him is discontent |

Theme: The example of the one who abides by the limits prescribed by Allah and the one who transgresses them is like the example of a people who boarded a ship after casting lots. Some of them were in its lower deck and others were in its upper deck. When those in the lower deck needed water, they had to go up and pass by those above them |
|
Theme: Of all the associates, I am the most able to dispense with association. If anyone does a deed in which he associates anyone else with Me, I shall abandon him to what he associates with Me |
|
Theme: Speak to the people according to their level of understanding. Do you wish that Allah and His Messenger be denied? |
|
Theme: So-and-so, what is the matter with you? Did you not use to command us to do right and forbid us from doing wrong? He will say: Yes, I commanded you to do right but I did not do it myself, and I forbade you from doing wrong but I used to do it myself |

Theme: Do not take my grave as a place of festivity (which you visit repeatedly), and do not take your houses as graves. Send blessings upon me, for your greeting will reach me no matter where you are |
|
Theme: I stand acquitted before Allah that I took anyone of you as an intimate friend, for Allah has taken me as an intimate friend just as he took Ibrahīm as an intimate friend. Had I taken anyone from my nation as an intimate friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as an intimate friend |
|
Theme: I used to experience frequent discharge of pre-ejaculatory fluid, and I was too shy to ask the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about it given the fact that his daughter was my wife. So I asked Al-Miqdād ibn al-Aswad to ask him about it. Thereupon, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Let him wash his penis and perform ablution (after it) |

Theme: Do not make your houses like graves, and do not make my grave a place for celebration, and invoke blessings (of Allah) on me for they will reach me wherever you may be |

Theme: O Messenger of Allah, verily, Allah does not feel shy of the truth. If a woman had a wet dream, would it be obligatory on her to take a ritual bath? He replied: Yes, if she sees vaginal fluid |

Theme: Do not say: What Allah wills and what so-and-so wills, rather say: What Allah wills and then what so-and-so wills |

Theme: To swear by Allah even if I were telling a lie is dearer to me than to swear by other than Him even if I were telling the truth |

Theme: Verily, Allah, the Almighty, gets jealous. The jealousy of Allah, the Almighty, is when a person commits what Allah has made unlawful for him |
|
Theme: Surely, you will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, in everything as one arrow resembles another, so much so that even if they entered a hole of a sand-lizard, you would enter it. They said: O Messenger of Allah, do you mean the Jews and the Christians? He replied: Who else? |
|
Theme: When you put on clothes and when you perform ablution, you should begin with your right side |
|
Theme: Whoever is tried by having daughters and he treats them kindly, they will be a screen for him from Hellfire |
|
Theme: Whoever swears by other than Allah has disbelieved or associated partners with Allah |
|
Theme: Whoever supports two girls till they grow up, he and I will come on the Day of Resurrection like this |
|
Theme: By the One in Whose Hand my soul is! You will not enter Paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I tell you of something that, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread the greeting of peace among yourselves |
|
Theme: Allah, the Almighty, said: My love is certainly due to those who love one another for My sake, sit with one another for My sake, visit one another for My sake, cooperate and give one another for My sake |
|
Theme: Were it not that I would cause difficulty for my followers, I would command them to use the tooth-stick with every prayer |
|
Theme: I asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): Which deed is dearest to Allah? He said: Offering prayer at the appointed time. I said: Then, what comes next? He said: Dutifulness to one's parents |
|
Theme: The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the ‘Ishā' and Fajr prayers. If they were to know the virtue of them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl. I sometimes thought of ordering for the prayer to be commenced, and I would appoint a man to lead the people in prayer, and then I would go, along with some men having bundles of firewood, to the people who are not attending the prayer and burn their houses with fire upon them |

Theme: Are you being granted victory and sustenance except by your weak ones?

Theme: That is a stone which was thrown into Hell seventy years ago and it has just reached its bottom and now you've just heard its bang |

Theme: A man ate with his left hand in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), whereupon he said: "Eat with your right hand." The man said: "I cannot do that." Thereupon, he said: "May you not be able to do that." It was only arrogance that prevented the man from doing it, and consequently he could not raise it (his right hand) up to his mouth afterwards. |

Theme: Whoever calls to guidance shall receive a reward similar to these obtained by those who follow him without that diminishing anything from their rewards. And whoever calls to misguidance shall incur a sin similar to these incurred by those who follow him without that diminishing anything from their sins |

Theme: Among the most wicked people are those who will be alive when the Hour comes, and those who take the graves as places of worship |
|
Theme: What is the reason for those people's fear? They willingly accept what is precise thereof, and react ruinously when it comes to what is broadly indicative |

Theme: ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make me sit with the elderly men who had fought in the Battle of Badr. Some of them did not like that |

Theme: Every morning, two angels descend. One of them says: O Allah, give the one who spends (in the way of Allah) compensation. The other one says: 'O Allah, give the one who withholds (from spending in the way of Allah) damage |

Theme: 'Indeed she has made such a repentance that if it were to be divided among seventy from the people of Madīnah, it would be enough for them all. Has she found something better than offering her own soul to Allah, Glorified and Exalted? |
|
Theme: The thing that I fear most for you is minor polytheism. When asked what it was, he said: Riyā’ (show-off) |
|
Theme: Belief in evil omens is polytheism. Belief in evil omens is polytheism. Everyone of us experienced something of that, but Allah dispels it with reliance on Him |

Theme: Don't they forbid what Allah allows, so you forbid it? Don't they allow what Allah forbids, so you allow it? I said: Yes. He said: That is how you worship them |

Theme: A rabbi came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Muhammad, we learn that Allah will put the heavens on one finger and the earths on one finger |

Theme: Allah will fold the heavens on the Day of Judgment and then take them in His right hand and say: I am the King. Where are the mighty ones? Where are the arrogant ones? Then, He will fold the seven earths and take them in His left (hand) and say: I am the King. Where are the mighty ones? Where are the arrogant ones? |

Theme: I used to wash the traces of semen from the garment of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he would go out to the prayer with water spots on his garment |

Theme: I set out with the delegation of Banu ‘Āmir to meet the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). We said (to him): You are our master. He said: The Master is Allah, Blessed and Exalted |

Theme: You are going to meet people who received a Scripture, so let the first thing to which you invite them be to testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah |

Theme: Raise your head, say and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be fulfilled |

Theme: Umm Salama told the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about a church that she had seen in Ethiopia that had sculptures. He said: "If any righteous pious man dies amongst them, they build a place of worship above his grave and place those sculptures. They are the most evil creatures in the sight of Allah." |

Theme: Beware of extremism, for indeed, extremism destroyed those before you |

Theme: I was with Sa‘īd ibn Jubayr when he said: Who among you saw a shooting star last night? I said: It was I. Then I said: In fact, I was not (busy) in prayer, but I was stung by a scorpion |

Theme: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the 'Nushrah' (counteracting magic by magic), he said: It is an act of the devil |

Theme: Do not exaggerate in praising me as Christians praised the son of Mariyam, for I am only a slave. So, call me the slave of Allah and His Messenger |

Theme: There is no contagion, nor is there any evil omen in birds, nor is there any evil omen in the owl, nor is there any bad omen in the month of Safar |

Theme: No one can undo the magic except a magician

Theme: The seven heavens and the seven earths in the palm of the Most Merciful are no more than a mustard seed in the hand of one of you |

Theme: The Kursi (footstool) in comparison to the Throne is only like an iron ring thrown in a desert on earth |

Theme: Whoever is prevented from doing something because of his belief in bad omens has thus committed polytheism. They said: What is the expiation of that? He said: It is to say: "O Allah, there is no good except Your good, nor omen except Your omen, and there is no god but You |

Theme: Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah, alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, that ‘Isa is the slave and Messenger of Allah, and His word which He communicated to Maryam, and a spirit from Him; and that Paradise is true and Hell is true, Allah will certainly admit him into Paradise, regardless of the deeds which he has done |

Theme: Whoever meets Allah without associating partners with Him will enter Paradise, and whoever meets Him while associating partners with Him will enter Hell |

Theme: Whoever dies while invoking anything other than Allah as a rival will enter Hell |
|
Theme: "Ruined are the extremists!" He said it thrice |

Theme: The Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave glad tidings to Khadījah (may Allah be pleased with her) of a house in Paradise built of Qasab wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue |

Theme: Praying in congregation is twenty-seven degrees better than praying alone |

So, he ordered for a small bucket of water to be brought, and performed ablution like that performed by the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). He poured water from the bucket over his hands and washed his hands thrice |

Theme: No soul gets killed wrongfully without the first son of Adam taking guilt for its blood because he was the first to institute the practice of murder |

Theme: Are you not aware that Islam wipes out all (sins) that preceded it, and that Hijrah wipes out all (sins) that preceded it, and that Hajj wipes out all (sins) that preceded it? |

Theme: Why does the menstruating woman make up for her missed fasts but does not make up for the missed prayers? She said: Are you a Harūriyyah? I said: I am not a Harūriyyah, but I am just asking. She said: That would happen to us, so we were ordered to make up for the fasts but were not ordered to make up for the prayers. |

Theme: O Messenger of Allah, I could not offer the ‘Asr prayer till the sun had set. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Allah! I have not yet prayed it either. So we went to But-hān, and he performed ablution and so did we, and then he offered the ‘Asr prayer after the sun had set and then followed it with the Maghrib prayer |

Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to pour water over his head thrice |

Theme: I came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) while he was cleansing his mouth with a ripe tooth-stick. The edge of the tooth-stick was on his tongue and he was making a sound like: “ugh, ugh” as if he was heaving, and the tooth-stick was in his mouth |

Theme: It would have been enough for you to do this with your hands like this. Then he struck the ground once with his hands and then used the left hand to wipe over the right, as well as the back side of his hands and face |

Theme: At the time of the battle of Uhud, my father called me at night and said: I have a feeling that I will be the first to be killed from among the Prophet's Companions |
|
Theme: Whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) spoke a word, he would repeat it thrice until it is understood from him. Whenever he greeted a group of people, he would greet them thrice |
|
Theme: I saw Ibn ‘Umar passing by a man who had made his camel kneel down so as to slaughter it. Ibn ‘Umar said: Slaughter it while it is standing with one leg tied up, as this is the Sunnah of Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) |

Theme: Two of the Prophet's Companions left his house on a dark night and were led by two lights like lamps illuminating the way before them |
|
Theme: O Abu Dharr, you are weak and it is a trust. It will be a cause of disgrace and remorse on the Day of Resurrection, except for the one who takes it up with a full sense of responsibility and fulfills what is entrusted to him |
|
Theme: O Allah, I declare strictly inviolable the rights of the two weak ones: the orphan and the woman |
|
Theme: Pursue the right course and be as close to it as possible, and know that none of you will be saved by their deeds. They asked: Not even you, O Messenger of Allah? He replied: Not even me, unless Allah encompasses me in mercy and favor from Him |

Theme: When people see an oppressor but do not prevent him from committing sin, it is likely that Allah will punish them all |

Theme: Never have I heard ‘Umar saying about something: I think it to be so-and-so, but it proved to be as he had thought |

Theme: Take no companion except a believer and let no one eat your food except an Allah-fearing person |

Theme: Whoever guarantees for me to safeguard what is between his jaws and what is between his legs, I shall guarantee Paradise for him |

Theme: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to take a ritual bath from one pot when we were in a state of major impurity |

Theme: Whoever Allah saves from the evil of what is between his jaws and the evil of what is between his legs will enter Paradise |

Theme: One may utter a word thoughtlessly and, as a result of this, he will fall down into Hellfire for a distance greater than the distance between the east and the west |

Theme: No prophet had been sent before me by Allah to his people but he had, among his people, disciples and companions, who followed his ways and obeyed his command. Then, there came after them successors who claimed what they did not practice and practiced what they were not commanded to do |

Theme: There shall be rulers in charge of you, and you will approve and disapprove. So anyone who hates shall be absolved, and anyone who denies shall be safe, except for those who approve and comply. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, shall we not fight them? He replied: No, so long as they establish prayer among you |

Theme: I remembered a gold nugget in my house which I didn't want to distract me, so I ordered it to be distributed (in charity) |

Theme: Abdur-Rahmān ibn Abi Bakr visited the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) as I had the Prophet's head reclined on my chest. ‘Abdur-Rahmān (may Allah be pleased with him) had a fresh tooth-stick and was brushing his teeth with. The Messenger kept his eye on it |

Theme: A man, who was set for travel, asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): Which type of Jihad is better? He replied: A word of truth said to a despotic ruler |

Theme: A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I intend to go on a journey, so give me provision. He said: May Allah grant you piety as your provision |
|
Theme: The finest form of dutifulness is maintaining relations with those whom one’s father loved |
|
Theme: O Messenger of Allah, how come the people have ended their state of Ihrām for ‘Umrah while you have not? he said: I have applied to my hair that which would make it matted and marked my sacrificial animal, and I will not end my Ihrām until I slaughter |
|
Theme: She said: Do not tell anyone the secret of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Anas said: By Allah, if I were to tell anyone about it, I would have told you about it, O Thābit |

Theme: I have been granted five things that none of the prophets before me was granted: I have been made victorious with the awe from a one month distance; the earth has been made a place of worship for me and a means of purification |
|
Theme: Whoever says (upon leaving his house) "In the name of Allah; I rely on Allah; there is no might and no power save in Allah", it will be said to him: "You are guided, sufficed, and protected", and the devil will go far away from him |
|
Theme: Whosoever introduces a good practice in Islam, there is for him its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him without anything being diminished from their rewards. And whosoever introduces an evil practice in Islam will shoulder its sin and the sins of all those who will act upon it, without diminishing in any way their burden |
|
Theme: Verily, the devil can eat from any food upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned. He brought this little girl to be able to eat, but I caught her hand. Then he brought this Bedouin to be able to eat, but I caught his hand too. By the One in whose Hand my soul is! His hand is in my grasp along with their hands |

Theme: Allah, the Almighty, said: Those who love one another for the sake of My glory will have pulpits of light for which the prophets and martyrs will envy them |
|
Theme: I gave the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) pledge to establish the prayer, pay Zakah, and advise every Muslim |
|
Theme: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Zhuhr prayer at the time of intense heat, and the ‘Asr prayer at the time when the sun was clear, and the Maghrib prayer when its time was due |

Theme: By Allah! We do not entrust this post to anyone who seeks it or is keen to attain it |
|
Theme: O Mu‘ādh, by Allah! I love you. I advise you, O Mu‘ādh, never fail to say after every prayer: O Allah, help me remember You, thank You, and worship You in an excellent manner |

Theme: Fear Allah, pray your five, fast your month, give Zakah from your wealth, and obey your rulers, and you will enter your Lord's Paradise |
|
Theme: I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt Maymūnah. When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) stood to perform Prayer at night, I joined him and stood on his left. He, then, took me by the head and made me stand on his right |
|
Theme: A baby boy was brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he urinated on the Prophet's clothes. So, he asked for water and sprinkled it over it |
|
Theme: I came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) when he was in a red leather tent. Bilāl stepped out with ablution water (that was left over from the Prophet's ablution. There were some people who managed to get some of it (seeking its blessing), whereas others just received a sprinkle of it |

Theme: By the One in Whose Hand my soul is! Either you command good and forbid evil, or Allah will soon send upon you a punishment from Him, then you will pray to Him but He will not respond to you |

Theme: O son, I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: The worst of shepherds is the harsh one, so beware of being one of them

He came out with his head dripping with water and said: Had it not been hard for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to perform that prayer at this hour |

Theme: May Allah fill their graves and houses with fire, as they distracted us from the middle prayer until the sun set |

Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Fajr prayer while some women from among the believers, wrapped in their garments, would attend the prayer with him. Then they would return to their homes, and no one would recognize them because of the darkness |
|
Theme: When any of you gets up at night to perform the voluntary night prayer, let him start with two short Rak‘ahs |
|
Theme: Allah, Glorified and Exalted, said: All the actions of the son of Adam are for him, except for fasting. Indeed, it is for Me, and I give reward for it |
|
Theme: When anyone of you meets his brother, let him greet him with peace. If a tree, a wall, or a stone comes between them and then he meets him, let him greet him with peace |
|
Theme: If a person falls ill or travels, he shall be credited with whatever good deeds he used to perform while at home and in good health |
|
Theme: if the deceased was righteous, it (the corpse) would say: Send me forward, send me forward. But if he was not righteous, it would say: Woe to it! Where are you taking it? |
|
Theme: When Allah created Adam (peace be upon him), He said to him: Go and greet those – a group of angels who were sitting – and listen to what they are going to say in response to your greeting as that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring |
|
Theme: O Messenger of Allah, what if a man comes to me wanting to take my money? He said: Then do not give him your money |

Theme: There are forty good qualities, the best of which is the lending of a milch goat. Anyone carries out any of these virtuous deeds seeking its reward (from Allah) with firm confidence that he will receive it, Allah will admit him to Paradise |

Theme: Practice archery, O progeny of Isma‘īl; your forefather was an archer |

Theme: Indeed, you will have the reward that you expected |

Theme: Intercede and you will be rewarded, and Allah will decide what He loves on the tongue of His Prophet |

|
Theme: O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath and in Your pardon from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I am not capable of enumerating praise of You. You are as You have praised Yourself |

Theme: The best Dhikr is: There is no god but Allah |
|
Theme: The best charity is providing the shade of a tent in the cause of Allah, or providing a servant for one who strives in the cause of Allah, or providing a young she-camel for one striving in the cause of Allah |

Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which part of the prayer is the best? He replied: The long standing

Theme: He did a little but was greatly rewarded |
|
Theme: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Recite the Qur’an to me. I said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I recite it to you while it has been revealed to you? He replied: I love to hear it being recited by others |

Theme: I have told you repeatedly to use the tooth-stick |
|
Theme: Should I not inform you about the people of Paradise? Every weak person who is looked down upon; if he were to make an oath in the name of Allah, He (Allah) would fulfill it. He then said: Should I not inform you about the people of Hellfire? Every cruel, greedy, and arrogant person |
|
Theme: Shall I not tell you something by which Allah erases sins and elevates ranks (in Paradise)? The Companions said: Certainly, O Messenger of Allah! He said: Performing the ablution properly even in difficulty, increasing attendance of prayer in the mosque, and waiting for the next prayer after observing one prayer; and this is Jihad |

Theme: Shall I not inform you of the best of your deeds which are the most praiseworthy in the sight of your Lord |
|
Theme: O mother of Hārithah, there are many ranks in the gardens of Paradise, and your son has attained Al-Firdaus |
|
Theme: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) once visited ‘Ali and Fātimah at night and said: Would you two not pray? |
|
Theme: I know a word that if he said, his rage would go away. If he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil, his rage would subside |

Theme: When the son of Adam gets up in the morning, all of his body organs humble themselves before the tongue, and say: Fear Allah concerning us! For indeed, we are only as you are (our condition depends upon yours); if you are upright, we shall be upright, and if you are crooked, we shall be crooked |

Theme: Do not be importunate in asking (for something), for by Allah, if one of you asked me for something and I gave it to him while I am reluctant, there will be no blessing in what I gave him |

Theme: Paradise is nearer to one of you than his shoelace, and so is Hellfire |

Theme: War is deception |

Theme: Goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection |
|
Theme: This world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the unbeliever |

Theme: O Abu Batn, we only go to the market to greet with peace everyone we meet |

Theme: A good vision is from Allah, and a (bad) dream is from the devil |
|
Theme: A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Assalāmu ‘alaykum. The Prophet responded to his greeting and the man sat down. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ten. Then another man came and said: Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah. The Prophet replied to his greeting and the man sat down. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Twenty |

Theme: The tooth-stick cleans the mouth and pleases the Lord |

Theme: Allah forgives everything for the martyr except the debt |

Theme: The five (daily) prayers, Friday prayer to the next Friday prayer, and Ramadan to the next Ramadan, are expiation of the sins committed in between them, so long as major sins are avoided |

Theme: Worship during times of turmoil is like emigration to me |

Theme: Allah, forgive my people for they do not know |

Theme: O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, abstinence, and sufficiency |

Theme: Some people came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Send with us some men to teach us the Qur'an and the Sunnah." So he sent to them seventy men from the Ansār who were called "the reciters"; among them was my maternal uncle Harām |

Theme: O Allah, to You I have submitted, and in You I have believed, in You I have put my trust, to You I have turned in repentance, and for You I have argued. O Allah, I seek refuge with Your power, there is no god but You, that You lead me astray. You are the Ever Living, the One who never dies, whereas the human beings and jinn will all die |
|
Theme: The upper hand is better than the lower hand; the upper hand is the giving hand, and the lower hand is the begging hand |
|
Theme: You would have received a greater reward had you given her to your maternal uncles |
|
Theme: Allah, the Almighty, ordered me to read to you {Those who disbelieve among the People of the Book and the Polytheists were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence.} [Sūrat al-Bayyinah: 98] |

Theme: Hold back your tongue, abide in your house, and weep over your sin |

Theme: If a slave serves his master sincerely and worships Allah properly, he will have a double reward |

Theme: A person may utter a word pleasing to Allah, the Almighty, without considering it of any significance, and because of it Allah raises his ranks; and a person may utter a word displeasing to Allah, the Almighty, without considering it of any significance, and because of it he sinks down into Hellfire |

Theme: The closest people to Allah are the ones who give the Salām first |
|
Theme: In Paradise, there are one hundred degrees that Allah prepared for those who make Jihad in the cause of Allah. The distance between each two degrees is like the distance between the heaven and earth |
|
Theme: There is an hour at night that no Muslim happens to be asking Allah, the Almighty, any good of this world or the Hereafter except that He will give it to him, and this occurs every night |
|
Theme: Give it to him, for the best among you are those who settle their debts in the best manner |
|
Theme: From the gravest of lies is someone who ascribes himself to other than his biological father, or claims to have seen something in a dream which he actually never saw, or ascribes something to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) which he did not say |
|
Theme: Allah, Glorified and Exalted, said: I am as My slave thinks of Me, and I am with him wherever he remembers Me |
|
Theme: I have seen seventy of the people of the Suffah, none of them had a cloak over them |
|
Theme: What did the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) use to start with upon entering his house? She said: With the tooth-stick |
|
Theme: His wealth is whatever he spends during his life, while the wealth of his heir is whatever he leaves after his death |
|
Theme: Make haste to perform the Witr prayer before the morning |
|
Theme: A man kissed a woman (unlawfully), so he came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and told him of what he did. So Allah, the Almighty, revealed the verse: {And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds.} [Sūrat Hūd: 114] |
|
Theme: A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I committed a sin liable to a legal punishment, so inflict it upon me |
|
Theme: If Allah wills to show mercy to a people, He takes the soul of their prophet before them, thus making him a forerunner and an intercessor for them |
|
Theme: Convey from me even one verse, and narrate from the Children of Israel, and there is no sin in that. And whoever intentionally tells a lie against me, let him assume his seat in Hellfire |
|
Theme: You will have seven hundred she-camels in return on the Day of Judgment, all of which haltered |
|
Theme: A man asked permission to see the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Thereupon, he said: Let him in. What an evil brother of his people he is! |

Theme: Whoever is pleased to look at a man from the dwellers of Paradise, then he may look at this man |

Theme: Were this world worth a wing of a mosquito in the sight of Allah, He would not have given the disbeliever a drink of water thereof |

Theme: When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the battle of Tabūk, the people went out to receive him. I received him with the boys at Thaniyyat al-Wadā‘. |
|
Theme: Three types of people will receive a double reward: a man from the People of the Book who believed in his Prophet and then believed in Muhammad, a slave who fulfilled his duties towards Allah and towards his masters, and a man who had a female slave and he taught her good manners, educated her well, then freed her and married her; he will receive a double reward |
|
Theme: We were given of this world what we were given. I am afraid that the reward of our good deeds has been hastened to us in this world |
|
Theme: A man from the people of Najd, with disheveled hair, came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). We could hear his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying: until he came close to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) when it then became clear that he was asking about Islam |
|
Theme: No fatigue, disease, sorrow, sadness, harm, or distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were a prick of a thorn, but Allah will expiate some of his sins thereby |
|
Theme: Hellfire is surrounded by lusts, and Paradise is surrounded by adversities |
|
Theme: O Hakīm, this money is like a sweet fresh fruit; whoever takes it without greediness, he is blessed in it, and whoever takes it with greediness, he is not blessed in it, and he is like a person who eats but is never satisfied; and the giving hand is better than the receiving hand |
|
Theme: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on a military campaign. We were six men and had one camel with us which we would take turns riding it. So our feet were injured (from the long walk) and my feet were injured |
|
Theme: You have said a word which, if mixed with the water of the sea, it would pollute it |
|
Theme: A Muslim owes another Muslim five rights: responding to the greetings, visiting the sick, following the funerals, accepting the invitation, and responding to the sneezing person |
|
Theme: A man from among those who were before you was called to account (by Allah on the Day of Judgment). No good deeds were found in his record except that he, being a rich man, used to enter into transactions with people and used to command his servants to show leniency towards those who were insolvent. Allah, the Exalted, said: We are more entitled to this (leniency) than him. Pardon him. |

Theme: The best of companions in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, is the best of them to his companion, and the best of neighbors in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, is the best of them to his neighbor |
|
Theme: The best of people is the one whose life is long and his deeds are good |
|
Theme: The best day the sun has risen over is Friday: on it Adam was created, on it he was admitted into Paradise, and on it he was driven out of it |
|
Theme: O Banu Salimah, stay in your neighborhood, your footsteps are recorded for you; stay in your neighborhood, your footsteps are recorded for you |

Theme: That is a man in whose ears (or he said: in whose ear) the devil urinated |
|
Theme: A person who is disheveled, dusty, and driven away from doors (maybe so close to Allah) that if he swears by Allah, He will definitely fulfill it for him |

Theme: May Allah have mercy on a man who is lenient when he sells, and when he buys, and when he demands back his money |

Theme: May Allah have mercy upon a man who wakes up at night and prays, and awakens his wife. If she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. May Allah have mercy upon a woman who wakes up at night and prays, and awakens her husband. If he refuses, she sprinkles water on his face |
|
Theme: May he be disgraced, may he be disgraced, may he be disgraced, he whose parents, one or both, reach old age in his life and he does not enter Paradise |
|
Theme: The Mufarridūn have gone ahead |
|
Theme: Lands will be laid open for you, and Allah will spare you the fight. So, let none of you fail to play with his arrows |
|
Theme: Traveling in the land for my Ummah is to perform Jihad in the cause of Allah, the Almighty |

Theme: Fight in the cause of Allah, for he who fights in the Cause of Allah for a period of time equal to that between two milkings of a she-camel, will be surely admitted to Paradise |

Theme: Fear Allah, pray your five, fast your month, give Zakah from your wealth, and obey your rulers, and you will enter your Lord's Paradise |
|
Theme: I prayed with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) one night and he started reciting Sūrat al-Baqarah |

Theme: Where is the one who was swearing by Allah that he would not do a favor? |
|
Theme: By Allah! I do give a man and I leave another, and the one that I leave is more beloved to me than the one that I give |
|
Theme: Ten practices are part of the Fitrah: Trimming the mustache, letting the beard grow, using the tooth-stick, rinsing the nose, trimming the nails, washing the finger joints, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the pubic hair, and washing the private parts with water |
|
Theme: During your sleep, Satan ties three knots at the back of the head of each one of you, and he seals each knot with the following words: The night is long, so keep on sleeping |
|
Theme: Make frequent prostration to Allah, for every prostration that you make for Allah, He will raise your position a degree and will remit one of your sins |
|
Theme: Two eyes will not be touched by the Fire: an eye which has wept out of fear of Allah, and an eye which has spent the night guarding in the cause of Allah |
|
Theme: When one of you stands up for offering voluntary prayer at night and finds it difficult to recite the Qur'an accurately, and he is unaware of what he is reciting, he should lie down |
|
Theme: Every Ummah has a trial, and the trial of my Ummah is wealth |

Theme: There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Rayyān through which only those who fast will enter on the Day of Resurrection. No one else will enter through it. It will be called out: Where are those who used to fast? So they will stand up and proceed towards it. When the last of them has entered, the gate will be closed, and no one else will enter through it |

Theme: May Allah have mercy upon Mūsa! He was hurt more than this but remained patient |

Theme: I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that most of those who entered it were the poor and destitute. The people of means were held back |

Theme: No one has ever eaten food better than that which his hands have earned. Indeed, Prophet Dawūd (peace be upon him) used to eat from the earnings of his own hands |

Theme: There was a man who used to give loans to people. He would say to his servant: When you come to an insolvent person overlook his debt. Perhaps Allah would overlook our sins. So, the man met Allah (after death) and He overlooked his sins |

Theme: Zakariyya (Zechariah) (peace be upon him) was a carpenter |

Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would strive more in Ramadan than he would strive in other than it, and in the last ten of it than he would strive in other than them |

Theme: All of my Ummah may be forgiven except those who commit sin openly |

Theme: We used to set aside for the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) his share of milk, and he would come at night and offer greetings in a tone that did not disturb those who were asleep but was heard by those who were awake |

Theme: We used to prepare for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) his tooth-stick and the water he used for making ablution. Then, Allah would awaken him whenever He willed during the night, and he would brush his teeth with the tooth-stick, make ablution, and perform prayer |
|
Theme: Is anyone of you unable to earn one thousand good deeds each day? One of those present asked: How can one earn one thousand good deeds? He replied: By glorifying Allah one hundred times, one thousand good deeds will be added to his record, or one thousand sins will be removed from his record |
|
Theme: I believe you heard that Abu ‘Ubaydah has returned from Bahrain with something |
|
Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to leave fasting in a certain month until we would think that he has not fasted at all that month; and he used to fast in another month so much that we would think he has not stopped fasting at all in that month. If one wished to see him praying at night, one could see him (in that state), and if one wished to see him sleeping at night, one could see him (in that state) too |

Theme: Do not say "Upon you be peace" for "Upon you be peace" is the greeting of the dead |

Theme: There should be no envy except in two (cases): A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a man whom Allah has given wisdom and he judges according to it and teaches it to others |

Theme: By Allah! There is no true life, except that of the Hereafter |

Theme: No son can repay the kindness of his father unless he finds him a slave and buys him and emancipates him |

Theme: A huge fat man will come on the Day of Judgment weighing less than a mosquito wing in the sight of Allah |

Theme: There is no servant who conceals the faults of another servant in this worldly life, except that Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection |

Theme: He who weeps out of fear of Allah, will not enter the Hell till the milk returns into the udder |

Theme: Let none of you die but should have good expectation from Allah |

Theme: That one of you takes his rope, goes to the mountain, cuts some firewood, carries it on his back, and sells it, thereby Allah saves his face (his dignity) is better for him than to ask people and they either give him or deny him |

Theme: Verily, this world is cursed, and everything in it is cursed, except the remembrance of Allah an all what is relevant to it; a scholar and a seeker of knowledge |

Theme: I met Ibrahīm on the Night of Ascension and he said to me: "O Muhammad, convey my greetings to your nation, and tell them that Paradise has pure soil and sweet water. It is a vast plain land and its seedlings are: glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is Greatest." |

Theme: The dutiful slave will be given a double reward |

Theme: All that is left from Prophet-hood is the glad tidings |

Theme: If I had gold equal to the mountain of Uhud, it would please me that I should have nothing left of it with me after the passage of three nights, except what I might retain to repay a debt |

Theme: Richness is not the abundance of wealth. Rather, true richness is self-sufficiency |

Theme: The liar is not the one who seeks reconciliation between people, conveying good, or saying good things |
|
Theme: The one who upholds ties of kinship is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives; rather, he is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him |

Theme: O Sa‘d ibn Mu‘ādh, the Paradise, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah, I smell the fragrance of Paradise near Mount Uhud |
|
Theme: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on one of his travels, and on the way the provisions became very scarce |
|
Theme: If you are as you say, it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will have a supporter against them from Allah as long as you continue to do so |
|
Theme: No one who enters Paradise would love to return to the life of this world even if he would be given everything that the world contains, except for the martyr. He will wish to return to the world and be killed ten more times on account of the honor that he will find |
|
Theme: I do not think that so-and-so and so-and-so know anything about our religion |
|
Theme: Anyone whose feet get covered with dust in the cause of Allah will not be touched by Hellfire |
|
Theme: This world in comparison with the Hereafter is like the amount of water one of you gets when he dips his finger in the sea. Let him see what his finger returns with |

Theme: This one is better than an earthful of the other |
|
Theme: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was never asked anything and said 'no' |
|
Theme: If the believer were to know what is with Allah of punishment, no one would hope to enter Paradise, and if the non-believer were to know what is with Allah of mercy, no one would despair of entering Paradise |
|
Theme: No people leave a gathering in which they did not remember Allah, the Almighty, except that it will be as if they are leaving the carcass of a donkey, and it will be a cause of regret for them |
|
Theme: No Muslim plants a tree except that whatever is eaten from it will be counted for him as charity, and whatever is stolen from it will be counted as charity for him, and no loss is incurred on him except that it will be counted as charity for him |
|
Theme: The martyr feels nothing from the agony of death except as one of you feels from the sting of an ant |
|
Theme: If I lived until I finished eating these dates of mine, it would be a long life indeed. So he threw away the dates he had then fought them until he was killed |
|
Theme: I would not be pleased to have the like of Uhud in gold and three days pass while even one dinar thereof remains with me, except what I keep for debts. Otherwise, I would distribute it among Allah's slaves like this, and like this, and like this |
|
Theme: The example of a Mujāhid in the cause of Allah is like a person who keeps fasting, praying and reciting the verses of Allah unfailingly until the Mujāhid returns |
