Hajj is not
compulsory for youngsters, yet it is
quite valid if they perform it. If the
minor is able to understand the rites of
Ihram, he may himself perform the rites
of Hajj as adults do. He should do
whatever men are obliged to do in Hajj.
If the youngster is a girl then she is
obliged to do whatever women are obliged
to do in Hajj. If the youngster, whether
a boy or girl, is too young to
understand the rites of Hajj, his/her
guardian must declare the state of Ihram
and perform the rites of Hajj on his/her
behalf. The guardian of a youngster
should help him/her to perform Ghusl,
declare the state of Ihram, say Talbyah,
circumambulate round Ka'bah, run between
Safa and Marwah on his/her behalf. He
should circumambulate round Ka'bah and
run between Safa and Marwah twice, once
for himself and the other for the
youngster who is too young to perform
these rites on his own. As for the
youngsters who are of age to perform
them on their own under the supervisions
of their guardians. If the minor can not
throw stones as a result of the crowd,
his guardian should throw it on his
behalf. As for the rest of the rites of
Hajj, e.g. spending the day at Arafah,
spending the night at Muzdalifah and
spending the night in Mina. The same
rule applies to the minors' performance
of Umrah.
